Several years ago many of us in the accounting department of a large research hospital with an associated children's hospital in the Bay Area went to register one lunchtime and we found that white, northern European women with common blood groups are a dime a dozen.

However, anyone with any type of more interesting genetic background is sought after. One of our group was descended from Spanish Jews and she was a match for someone.

So if you have a more rare blood group or heritage, please call. The initial screening is not hard to do.

I'm of mixed heritage but, unfortunately, my current state of health doesn't allow me to be a donor any longer.

Still Raining, even though there are many more white European donors in the network it is still not that easy to find a match. The boy Marp posted about is an example.

In addition, if anyone knows someone who is pregnant and would be interested in donating placenta and cord blood there are systems in place for that as well.
