So calming.  This photo prompted memories of "Canadian Sunset" by Eddie Heywood and Hugo Winterhalter.

Who remembers that lovely ditty?

I love Canadian Sunset by Hugo Winterhalter and have it on a few of my home made CD"s!!!  It brings me back in time to happy memories and is one of my favorite instrumentals.  Love it!

spiderw,

It is such a joy to find a "sister spirit" for songs from the same era.  You are encouraging me...  godi, please excuse my using your beautiful photos as a sort of springboard.

If you loved "Canadian Sunset," you might have loved "Autumn Leaves" by Roger Williams.  Did/do you?

My dearest father would have the radio on in the morning when he shaved, and he responded to "Autumn Leaves" as I did when it aired.  I could understand this even though I was young.  When I hear the song, I feel a sadness that he is no longer here, but I remember his gentle, loving soul.  My heart swells.

How very lovely!  Smiley Happy

It's almost like I hear "Remember, always.  I am with you and send you blessings!".

@golding76 @spiderw  I don't know that song I am going to look it up. What a great memory of your dad. Did your dad use Old Spice? Anytime I smell that I think of mine. Miss him so.

I can relate to your story about your father and Autumn Leaves by Roger Williams!!!  My mother loved that song and when I hear it I think of her .  The words are so meaningful and bring a sadness to me especially at this time of year.  "But I Miss You Most of All, My Darling when Autumn Leaves start to Fall", a line from the song with meaning.

Happy Thanksgiving to you!  Memories shared.

godi,

My father did not use Old Spice but my late husband did.  Daddy used Mennen after shave.  I know what you mean about a scent bringing back memories.

spiderw,

Ah yes, "Autumn Leaves" can bring the melancholia.  What emotional lyrics and tune.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING!
