Hard to believe it's 62 years since JFK was assassinated.  I was in a freshman year civics class when the announcement was made by the principal.

I was doing a pediatric affiliation for nursing school in DC at the time. I went to the rotunda. I remember the child I was caring for at the time I heard the announcement.

I remember.  The housewives were in tears and we had the neighborhood moms show up at our house to watch the goings on.

I was in the 8th grade. What a horrible day that was. The entire weekend was spent watching the events at the capitol and on Monday the funeral. Our nation was in mourning. Who can forget the funeral with John saluting his Dad's casket and Jackie and Caroline kneeling at the casket in the rotunda?

I was 8 years old in the second grade.  I remember we were lined up at the door waiting for the bell to ring to go home when the announcement came over the PA system that the President was assasinated.  Our little brains couldn't really comprehend what that meant but I knew it was bad because our teacher was crying.  She told us to go straight home to our families.  Don't stop anywhere, just go home.
