Kaspersky would never forgive me if I'd opened it ...

I got one the other day that said "Notice of Eviction". I deleted it immediately, we've owned our home outright for years.

I have been getting a ton of them lately, and also Court "Summons" they are scam and maybe viruses -just delete them- How can I be evicted from my own home, anyway?

I've been getting the Court Summons too right along with one Notice to Vacate. I looked them up and it's definitely a scam. If you open the document you are doomed.

The court summons were rather funny because they escalated, as though it was an intended pattern. First was the notice to appear at a specific court on this date(and that state did NOT have any court by that name), open the attachment to find out the time and details. The next one was a court summons to appear in court in reference to my illegal use of software. Click on the attachment for further details. The last one was about some filing or motion, click on the attachment to find out what. Then the Notice to Vacate appeared.

All were signed by the court clerk-sometimes with a name under the words, sometimes not. The courts weren't all in the same state either.

Now if I had the most secure computer in the world, saved those attachments and never connected that computer to the internet again, I'd like to open those said attachments to see if they were as poorly written as the emails. Or if a message like "GOTCHA!" appeared-

I've gotten a few of those just today. Of course, I didn't open any and they landed in my spam folder. Yeah, right - you're going to evict me from my own house. sure thing.

I swear, if it's not one email scam it's ten others. I really have to wonder how many people (percentage-wise) open such emails.

Ever since the Target breach I've been getting a TON of those virus, phishing emails. I blame Target 100%.

I had that email yesterday. I deleted it quickly! Since we own our home I wasn't worried but I suppose if you were a tenant you might wonder about it. What will these scammers think of next?

So how does Target have our email address if we shop there? Is it attached to our debit cards that we might have used during that time?

I've bought online from them but they seem to have two of mine, I'm not sure how they got them both, but they did.

Yes in my junk folder I have gotten them several times. One of them said I was called to go to New York to go to court there. Yea, sure....LOL!...I guess if you are someone with a bad history, or bad credit and you were not the sharpest knife in the drawer, they might scare you. I keep my nose pretty clean...and do not know anyone in New York! I never shop at Target and still got them, so I would not blame it on The Target Breach.

I actually got an email from a funeral home in Florida a few days ago, expressing their condolences over the unexpected death of a close friend. It didn't name anyone. I do have a friend in Florida, so I went to the website of the funeral home, and there was a notice saying that they were aware that a lot of these emails were sent out, and they didn't come from them.
