@Mistreatedbycs

absolutely right! I was able to see, feel the texture & I did stay with my original selection, but, now I like another style (with a little more sheen) I want to keep the room casual.

Re: Not sure where to post - Home or Community Chat (re: pricing in store vs online)

It's not at all uncommon that special discounts and sale prices are online only; much merchandise on websites is also labeled "online only" even as far as availability to purchase, i.e. not sold in the stores. It's important to note the online "fine print" these days. I look for that kind of thing when I'm buying, BUT if it's not readily visible right on the page, I'd be annoyed too - and would complain if I got home, looked again, and it wasn't obvious.

I'm sorry you had to experience all that hassle....

JCP is struggling financially and it's situations like yours that show why......  I like the stores where you can order online and on the delivery options you can have the option to pick it up at your nearest store rather than having it shipped to your home....if you need something fast that is the best of both worlds.....

@Moonchilde

i hadn't noticed. But I just had to order some rods & it asked looking for "coupons" yes it came up additional 30% off & free shipping (fine print online only - and this was as small as this type!)

Well during this shopping spree for redecorating im learning their "secrets" inc. the furniture store quoted me a price -- after I had a mild gasp for air (lol) I told the salesmen I'd wait until March or April to order as I've just gifted $$$ to my son for down payment & closing (a little short) on home and bought all new appliances for them. I'd have to have a few months.

Today, he sent me a revised invoice with 5 yrs of protection (free was $400) and honoring before Xmas sale prices.

I know furniture has big big markups plus I also plan to do kitchen next and LR.

guess it pays to not jump on it right away!

Re: Not sure where to post - Home or Community Chat (re: pricing in store vs online)

The last couple of times I ordered through JCP, the shipping time to the store was miserably long. The one time, I never got a call that my order was in until the day they were going to ship it back!!

Stores are between a rock and a hard place. The overhead of a Brick and mortar store is huge, but I too like to see things in person, touch, feel, get an idea of the quality, true color etc. Most online sites have one picture and not a good one at that. At the cost of eating shipping both ways when the product doesn't meet my standards or likes, I tend to just not order something I haven't seen unless I have no other choices.

That would have made me upset too.
