Re: Not counting days at work, but days at home, do you eat meals by the clock?

Now that I'm retired, my waking/rising times vary. Since I've always been someone who has to be awake for 2-3 hrs before I want to eat, going back to childhood, my "feel like eating" hours vary widely now. Add to that a year's worth of illness, medication adjustment and a change in my ability to eat some things, and my new reality is that I eat only when truly hungry most of the time now. Often I'll eat at 2 pm (first full meal) and then maybe 7 pm.

[ Edited ]

Right now I eat by the clock because I want to regain some of the weight I lost during a long bout with gastric problems.

So breakfast, lunch and dinner, along with two snacks is what I eat about the same time every day.

@ Montana

Hope you are feeling better!

My DH retired several years ago. I just retired a couple of months ago due to health reasons. I have had various chronic conditions including digestive diseases for over 30 years so eating on a schedule is better for my body. I also have to take certain meds with or without food so having a schedule is necessary. My DH prefers a schedule too even though he has no heath issues.

I'm retired and I do eat by the clock because  some of the supplements I take require food and others an empty stomach. Plus eating on a regular schedule keeps ME regular.Woman Wink

Re: Not counting days at work, but days at home, do you eat meals by the clock?

I am very routine oriented.  I don't eat by the clock, but it's usually around the same time each day.  I don't like to eat dinner past 6:30 unless it's a weeked night out with friends, etc.

I usually eat dinner between 5:30 and 6.  I eat breakfast at 7 ish and lunch varies due to my job.

Re: Not counting days at work, but days at home, do you eat meals by the clock?

I am a schedule person. And my husband is the same. We eat breakfast usually around 9:00, lunch around 1:00, and dinner at six. That's our current schedule, but of course it has varied throughout our marriage.

We both grew up in families that always dinner together. We did the same with our daughter. Even now, my husband and I sit down for dinner.

I think that doing so whenever possible can be very beneficial, as long as things remain civil during the meal. Unfortunately, dinnertime for my family growing up was an hour of tension and drama accompanied by screaming matches.

I was determined to get it right with my family. :-)

Re: Not counting days at work, but days at home, do you eat meals by the clock?

I take vitamin supplements that work best with food and when spaced out during the day.  Usually, when I am at work, I try to eat something small for breakfast by 10am, something for lunch around 2pm and then I try to squeeze something in for dinner around 6pm.

My preferred way of living is eat when I am hungry.  Unfortunately I'm not often hungry.  Today it didn't hit me until nearly 3pm that I hadn't eaten anything.

If it was just me, I would eat whenever....but I have a husband.  We've only eat twice daily.  A late breakfast then dinner at 4:30.
