Re: Not a good day to go to the mailbox !

Thank you all for the replies, looks like we are all feeling the pinch in some way or another.  I just bothers me a bit when they say, due to the economic circumstances, etc. - as if we aren't all feeling the same rough times.

However, the good news is our artic blast has moved on and I hope we don't see any more severe weather before Spring.

@Snowpuppy  -  thanks for asking, we are all doing fine.  Hope the same for you and yours, my friend. Heart

I have a dear friend who did the same thing for the same reason, same state (CT) but went to FL.  She loves it there.  Oh, she also left because of the winters.

@monicakm   Off topic but wanted to say that we are all ready with drinks and snacks for the game ( big time Chiefs fans here ).  Predictioins are favoring Bufallo so I guess we will have to show 'em,  huh? Smiley Tongue

My only knowledge about Dyson's energy usage is my own experience with my electric bills.

@geezerette   I'll have to try lowering the temp on the Dyson and see if that makes any difference.  Thanks!

Re: Not a good day to go to the mailbox !

I had a learning curve moment when my bills were escalating at the end of last year

This was esp with gas/electric

It does depend on what state of your residence but when I began inquiring it was all the state and state regulatory taxes that were raising my bill

Im in  Illinois and for example in September my bill changed 13.00 alone in taxes just for the electric

I have since moved and achieved my goal to downsize

From 1300 sq ft 1 acre to a condo 1 bedroom 900 sq ft

I see a difference already

I changed counties and left rural to suburban

HeartGo Chiefs!!!!!!!  My gas and electric bill topped $550.00 this month.  An all time high here in Central California.  But this old gal refuses to sit around home freezing.  Only me and my pup living in the house.  That bill is insane!

Yes, we showed them 🏈  it was a great game for Chiefs fans everywhere.  We have one more game to win and to make NFL history. Sorry I was late replying to this. I just now saw it.

@Linda0215

I have a dear friend that used to live in Connecticut. She moved to Florida a few years ago to get away from crazy utility prices and taxes.  Every time I call her the first thing that comes out of her mouth is "I love it here" LOL. We are 100% Electric and have never had a electric bill higher than $214.  That was this past summer. Our house is 1800 sq ft.  It will be interesting, to say the least, to see what our next bill is after the really cold week we had couple of weeks ago. I would die if I ever had a $500 electric bill much less $700 one.

We installed my Christmas present this week. It is a black modern rectangle electric fireplace.  It's beautiful and adds so much to our dining room. DH installed it in the wall instead of hanging it on the wall . We've used the heat a little but that wasn't the primary reason for getting one and it won't be used a whole lot.  I'm wondering if it pulls more electricity than our heat pump.  We shall see.
