I am the offspring of Holocaust survivors and introspectively, I have also felt the deep pain from the evil that exists in humanity. Evil is not new.  I find it helps to DO something to help, support an organization, volunteer perhaps, donate goods, just something... That's where you will find the goodness that ALSO exists and find hope. Sending love, peace and prayers to people on this planet.

I just have to put my two cents worth in. The kindness and humanity shown by MOST of the posters in this thread really touched me. We are living in some really insane times. What happened today made my heart ache. I feel like whatever gets you through this madness, whether it be music, a good book, talking with a friend, do it. ❤️

After I read your post, I thought oh what has happened? Read the news -I didn't know.😢

This on top of what I'd already read about local news.

I have to try not to get so sad and horrified by all the sad awful things that happen. And do what @Porcelain wrote (which I've been told before to me).

And yes step away. I try not to listen to the news like I used to. I do read to try to be informed but many days say to myself-I told you not to read it anymore!

Anyway, I listen to music a lot.

And this may sound weird but you know a song that I often think of that gives me comfort because it seems so apt and true in these times we live in now-Adam Lambert singing Mad World.

Many of us are needing this infusion of peace.

I have appreciated everyone's wise input.  These are very difficult times and it is hard to keep moving forward, but, of course, we must do so.

The news today is very bad and I hope it doesn't get any worse than it has already.

I do not think anyone is facilely saying that a song (or book, etc.) will wipe away the pain and horror of today's tragedy.  

These are suggested coping mechanisms for hard times and deplugging every now and then.

ETA:  I, too, fervently hope the situation does not get worse.  I hope my fears are foolish ones.

@golding76   Yes, there are so many horrendous things going on in the world that we have absolutely no control over.

If you couple that with things going on in our personal life it becomes overwhelming. 

You need to find a bit of calm and peace in your life, whatever that means for you.  Hopefully, your "calm" can get you back to gather all the strength that you need to work through these times.

Remember, this too shall pass.

I think most of us are bewildered and feel helpless right now over the loss of our service people.  I lump all of them as "soldiers".  I know I do.  For those who don't, that's your viewpoint.

I think we all have our own ways of coping with the sorrow and grief and fear about our country and our soldiers.

That being said, please don't berate the posters on here who happen to disagree with your viewpoint.................
