As are cases in New Orleans and we’ve been breaking temperature records every day with highs pushing 90 degrees. It doesn’t seem to bother this virus at all.

@JaneMarple @shoesnbags   Even if it is ultimately determined that warm weather slows the virus it will continue to hit and miss.

Droplets from sneezing and coughing that are outside in the sun will likely be killed and the density of humid air will keep the droplets from traveling as far lowering the risk of contamination.

However, inside where it is air conditioned and the humidity is lower conditions will be similar to now so outside weather will have little, if any, effect.  Also, once a person is infected and becomes a carrier the weather/temperature will not affect the ability of the virus to multiply and spread.

@shoesnbags,  last I heard two strains of the virus have been identified.  That was a while ago and I have not heard if additional strains have been found.

Re: North Carolina Shut Down For 30 Days

We are on a shut-down here in Hawaii until 4/30, except for essential businesses.  I'm grateful that I work in an essential industry, but I already work from home so no change there.

Re: North Carolina Shut Down For 30 Days

@JaneMarple  @shoesnbags,  another point to my comments about the virus and weather.  It is spreading rapidly in the southern hemisphere where it is summer--temperatures have been in the mid to upper 80 and above with a high relative humidity.

I wouldn't count on the virus disappearing as the weather warms.  Warm weather might slow the spread somewhat but I think that would be the best case scenario.

Our State is shutdown but comeon now it really isn', it can't be...the order has so many needed exceptions along with the Governor's encouragement to get outside to excerise, play with the kids, walk the dog...yeah, ok then.

Re: North Carolina Shut Down For 30 Days

Hi @ECBG I am your neighbor in northern SC and thankfully I just finished my PT sessions in Hendersonville.  I had shoulder replacement in December and my ortho released me from formal PT  over a week ago.  I would have stopped any way. I limit outings to grocery shopping now.   My docs are in NC and my husband works for a N C hospital.  Fortunately he is in a dept that is working from home. I am for whatever we need to do to stop this thing. Also makes me glad that I bought an emergency food kit last year so we really can make do for a while. Safe wishes to all of my posters here.

I'm in Ok. We have 322 cases so far. Our City just put out another Emergency Declaration saying as of midnight tomorrow only essential people are going to work. Most places will be closed.

They already started only using drive-thru windows for food.

I'm sure they are trying to keep the cases down hoping it will warm up so the virus will slow down but they still don't know if it will slow down or not.

Dh is still working. He will be going to work on Mon.

You can still go to the grocery store etc. I know smaller places already limit how many people can come in at the same time.

I'm staying home since I don't want to deal with the lines etc.

Glad I took care of things early on.

I would think to get an accurate picture of whether or not warm weather will help w/ending this virus...it will need to be looked at over a period of time. The cases that are exploding right now, the people have had for a couple of weeks now. Jmo I could be wrong lol

Oh, so not completely shut down then.

It's like that in a lot of places.

Where I live we have a lot of places that are open too.

Banks, financial institutions, etc.

*Sigh*

I don't think warm/hot temperature will make a difference.

It's like one can get a cold or flu (and yes, I know that Covid isn't a cold or flu) in the middle of July.

I think this will be the same way.
