NoraCora - Fraud (Women's Online Clothing)

Merry Christmas & Happy Hanukkah

Boy, did I get taken big time.

"NoraCora" ads pop up in Facebook, in newsfeeds, wherever.  Well, I bit, in my desire to purchase cute tops and a sweater for my DD back in November.  No, nothing has arrived and nothing ever will.

NoraCora does follow through with some of the order it receives.  However, after finally reading reviews, it's all junk and terribly sized.

I found out their true colors last even when my husband was doing the weekly review and pay of bills, noting a $102+charge on 12/6 to a weirdly named company.  He asked if I had made such a purchased, to which I replied "No."  I got on the phone straight away to Chase and spoke with Max in India.  Seems on 12/5 Chase had denied 2 purchases in the amount of $600+ and $500,+ but had let the $100+ pass through, as it met a certain criteria, which I get.

Bottom line:  Someone at NoraCora used my credit card in an attempt to make over $1,200+ in purchases in an undisclosed Asian country.  We're not responsible for any of the charges; our Chase cards were cxl'd last night; and, Chase is reporting this vendor, and going after the $100+, as much as they are able, given that this is an Int'l matter.

Just don't get whooshed into NoraCora as I did, because the fashion look is too good to be true, because they were exactly that!

And, though I know some of you have had not good experiences with Chase, we've had nothing but great ones for nearly 25 years.  I really appreciated the fact that I could talk to their rep in India, provide the information I had on my end and by the end of the conversation, was confident in knowing I could sleep last night.  (Plus woke up to a very comprehensive email re next steps, etc., with lots of useful information, which is probably par for the course with many financial institutions.)

Hope this just might help someone out there.

I almost got taken but when I read all the terrible reviews I realized this is a scam company.  You are right...too good to be true.  The photos are wonderful and prices are great.  That should have been my first clue!!!   I still get emails from them in my junk box and finally emailed them to STOP.  They did. Sorry you got taken...

I've never heard of NoraCora.  I do not....ever....make purchases from all those companies I never heard of that show up on my FB feed.  Why would the check would anyone do that?  It's like asking to be taken advantage of.  Even when a company I know, like Macy's or Nieman's shows up on my feed, I do not ever order through FB.  If I am interested, I go to their websites to order.  No, a thing like that would not happen to me.  Shopping online is great, I buy almost everything online but it's crucial that you know who you are shopping with.  It's much better to take care of yourself before you get into trouble than to be happy that you bank got you out of trouble.

I've seen the type of ads you are describing.  Designs with prices too good to be true (they are).  I've been tempted to order from them and decided to do some research.  The scams are abundant...often people don't receive the clothing and if they do it doesn't reflect the quality/design/color they thought they were purchasing.  The time frames and return policies are fraudulent.  These companies will copy ads from expensive popular designs and make inept cheap knock offs.  I was so tempted to purchase because  some of these designs copy one of my favorite designers Johnny Was, but after looking into it I so glad I didn't take the bait.  Buyer Beware!

I suspect harvesting credit card info is the whole point of those sites.

Thanks so much for the PSA on this.

I hadn't heard of this company, but now I have!

I often just keep myself to a few companies that I know are on the up and up, but every now and then will see something I want to have and have taken a few chances.   Usually, I only do that for small purchases but I almost got taken years ago from some online company for an expensive camera.   Boy, you learn fast when you encounter it the first time, doncha!  Smiley Happy

My first time and last time, for sure.  I'm blaming this on pain meds for not checking them out online.  This is so not like me!

I agree.  Some receive junk merchandise.  However, there is not a paucity of reviews regarding misuse of credit cards.  I'll be going online today to post my experience.  (Just got back from an epidural.)

Hi chickenbutt,

Just returned from an epidural, so on meds.  Hope I'm making sense in all of this.

I was also on pain meds when I saw their ad and saw tops and a sweater for my daughter.  Yes, it all looked and sounded too good, but I decided to take a chance and I knew that's what it was.  I could kick myself for not checking them out online.  What a lame brain!  I'm blaming it on the pain meds and 7 months of severe sciatic pain.  Some days I'm barely functioning.

Merry-Merry-to ya!

I suspect who's ever behind that name "NoraCora' might use other names and websites, too. There's probably many of them being operated by crooks who scam for money.
