Prempro: The prescription comes in a burst-pill type of packaging...7 pills in 4 lines. Since I was traveling a lot & for the sake of convenience, I would cut the card for each week....ending up with 4 individual lines of 7-day pills. (Hope that makes sense!). I would throw all of them in my bathroom drawer & pull out a new line for each week.

I got a new prescription today...after years of taking this medication, I finally re ad the back. It clearly says Week 1, 2, 3, 4 on the back!! Can't believe I've missed that!! It got me thinking...and here's where I poise the question:

If Prempro is listed as a week 1-2-3-4 on the back packaging, are the dosages in each week and/or each pill different?

I scoured the Internet for answers...with nothing. If the dosage is different, it would account for my sleepless nights....as an example, grabbing Week 4 (with less estrogen) when I should've grabbed Week 2.

I assumed each pill was the same dosage, but the packaging leads me to believe otherwise.

Could you put your medical detective cap on & see what you find within your online journals about Prempro and different dosage for each week/day?

**I'll buy you an invisible cup of coffee for your trouble!!! ITA!****

I am so careful about prescription meds, I wouldn't want to make a guess, but I think it could easily be solved by asking your nearby pharmacist. I've called a Walgreens pharmacy before to ask about something even though I never get meds from them. They were nice about it.

I understand your concern about this particular issue and imo the packaging is misleading. Pharmacies here give out instructions, warnings and side effects on every drug handed out. I'm surprised yours didn't.

I will look to see if I can find anything, but I think your best bet is asking a pharmacist ASAP. You should be able to do it on the phone, too.

THANK YOU so much for responding!!! You're such a dear. I didn't even think about asking the pharmacist. I'll be honest..every time someone walks by, he says hi...so I've forgotten the importance of his position...he's just 'Bill behind the counter', you know?! Definitely, I'll ask him tomorrow. Thank you so, so much for your suggestion. We'll 'talk' later...Sidsmom!

SM, I did find some info on side effects which you should know about... I KNOW you always want to know the details, and that is A GOOD THING Smile

I'm still looking for additional info for you, SM!

SM,

I'm not seeing anything so far about a difference of dosage in the same package, or anything like that.

Info re: use...

How To Use Prempro

Read the Patient Information Leaflet if available from your pharmacist before you start using this medication and each time you get a refill. If you have any questions, ask your doctor or pharmacist.

Take this medication by mouth with or without food as directed by your doctor, usually once daily. You may take it with food or right after a meal to prevent stomach upset.

The dosage is based on your medical condition and response to treatment.

Take this medication regularly to get the most benefit from it. To help you remember, take it at the same time each day. Follow your dosing schedule carefully. Do not increase your dose or take this medication more often or for a longer time than directed.

Tell your doctor if your condition does not improve or if it worsens.

SM, Not finding anything about the 1 through 4 issue. Just a guess, but if it was important, I'd assume your MD and pharmacist would make a big deal about it to you... mine do.

Check with your friendly neighborhood pharmacist to make sure Smile

Gosh, I sure wish we could get some of your rain down here. Tonight's weathercast says it will be close to 87 degrees by the middle of next week. Almost a typical February for us in the last 4 years. UGH!!
