I don't think that trend setter automatically means a fashion trend setter, because obviously, Lena is not.

I think she is a trend setter in other ways and empowers women to think outside of the box in regards to "beauty" norms.

I think she's an eccentric hipster. A latter day Yoko Ono.

I have never watched her TV show but now I will. She seems like an interesting person who dances to her own beat. I admire that.

Oh, she cares, believe me. Anyone that neurotic cares a whole bunch. Besides it's her stock in trade. She's hoping that all the other plain, sad, overweight girls will identify with her. There's certainly enough of them to help keep her show going. She's written a book coming out soon in which she describes her childhood psychotherapy and her OCD which she still deals with. Poor thing is a mess.

wow. just wow.

ITA. When life gave her lemons she made lemonade and she's able to sell her neuroses. Many many folks in show biz do. Events of the past few weeks should show you that. But emulating them or thinking they're "trend setters" is naive at best and tragic at worst.

What events are you talking about? {#emotions_dlg.confused1}

I think you might like it, free.

There are moments that absolutely make you cringe and others that make you think. It's not the routine silly/stupid sitcom.

They are a generation twice removed from the Baby Boomers and they don't behave like we think we do. I could see how it would make some Boomers uncomfortable. I just find it fascinating.

I agree that the outfit needs no words, but I wish some of the words expressed on this thread about the person wearing it would have been rethought. I always gain so much more insight into the person making some of these remarks than I ever do about the subject being discussed.

actually, I was wow'ing at this

" She's hoping that all the other plain, sad, overweight girls will identify with her"

I actually like her and I was wow'ing at your post - not in agreement, but it astonishment. But heaven forbid that anyone says anything negative about the Duggers, right?

I did get that, biancardi. Was having a little fun with ya, that's all. I call them like I see them and I defend those I like just as you're doing now. I never attack other posters when their opinion differs from mine. I simply state how I feel and where I think they're mistaken. I know that by bringing up the Duggars you're trying to bait me but it won't work. We're all entitled to our viewpoints.

no, it isn't a bait - it is an observation.

Re: No Words necessary.... Lena Dunham.. What was she thinking?????

Someone on this thread posted that she played ping pong naked on her show?

Yes...I am DEFINITELY a boomer. That sounds just stupid to me and not something I would want to watch.

But if others DO...enjoy.
