Sorry but some people really expect too much. My daughter owns an Etsy store where it clearly states 7-10 days from the date you place order. That is regular USPS but she does offer other shipping options. All of her orders are custom made and her website and about everyone of them on Etsy says 7-10 days. She was getting orders last Wed and Thur from people who were ordering regular USPS, no next day or priority mail who were saying she would need them by Sat of the same week!! It is like are you kidding me? Even if she had that order ready to go out that very day, it still wouldn't get there by regular USPS delivery.

I think people don't realize that even when sent next day or priority it is still iffy at this time of year because of the sheer quantity and once she mails those they are out of her control. We have seen orders that were supposed to be priority that take 5-7 days to get there for whatever reason and the tracking is of absolutely no help. When she has a package like that she is usually on the phone for at least 45 min to get some answers and usually there are none.

I know all of these places offer this and even guarantee these kind of promises but if I was really relying on something to get there with just a week left, I would make sure I got it myself at a brick and mortar store.

Now I would be upset if the package hadn't even left the vendor but I cannot get mad at the vendor when the shipping company fails especially at such a late date. I know what they promise but we have all had or at least heard these stories over and over. If I need a package to absolutely get there I certainly am not going to leave it in the hands of a stranger who doesn't have the urgency that I do.

I'm just waiting for all the complaints of people whose packages did not arrive in time for Christmas.  Last night I saw UPS trucks out at 10:00 at night - these people are working overtime to get everything to you and if you don't get your package, no whining!  It's not their fault, you obviously didn't plan ahead and if thinking if you ordered something this week they could get your packages to you guaranteed, you're a fool!  So just sit back and relax, life is too short to stress about the little things.   Merry Christmas to all!

I think life is too short to scold people about things you have no actual facts for!  Not everyone is foolish, or fails to plan ahead.  Sometimes there are glitches in the system....so what if someone comments about a delivery getting delayed, sent to another city, or lost altogether?

How does this hurt you????

Absolutely!  And if I asked my kids what they wanted in July, they'd think I was joking!

3 times this week I had a single usps item delivered by what looked like their own  private car. I didn't pay for any special shipping and yet got special order service. The delivery services have had weather related delays but have tried very hard to make my deliveries asap this year. I'm surprised and gratefulSmiley Happy

Ho Ho Ho september!

So happy to see you and nunyaWoman Very Happy

Hope all of you are doing well and not stressing this Christmas season.

We've got some extras going on here...strep throat, mono, tonsil surgery, fevers and a whole body rash reaction to penicillin, along with the usual seasonal excitement. Cream-of-wheat and popsicles are on the menu this year!

Absolutely agree, you can't wait until the last minute and expect virtual miracles. That said, retailers need to stop 'guaranteeing' what they can't honestly guarantee, and delivery services know what's coming at this time every year and should probably plan for every contingency. No, I don't want to read anyone lamenting about how (fill in the blank) ruined their Christmas, their child's Christmas, their child's teacher's Christmas, and so on...

I guess I'm one of those fools you are talking about. I ordered an item for my son on Nov 22nd and it was guaranteed to ship on Dec. 15th and arrive before Christmas. Guess what? I e-mailed last week to be sure it was sent and they told me not to worry.  Called again yesterday, Dec. 22nd, and found out it has not shipped. I have sat here for a month when I could have puchased this item somewhere else. The item isn't going to make it. It is my son's entire Christmas and a huge surprise. The only thing that is "guaranteed" is that I will never do this again! This fool is disappointed.

Sorry that happened to you, Amy.  You did plan ahead (as I believe most of us do) so I can understand your disappointment.
