On some remotes there is a closed caption button.  If yours has that, you may have hit it accidentally.

@GingerPeach. Thanks so much for me mentioning this.  I checked my remote and at the very bottom, on the left was this tiny button that said "cc" in with the DVD buttons.  It did the trick.  I'm now cc free.

Hi there, @Kachina624

I'm so glad it helped.  After I posted, I began to think I might have overstepped and told you something you already knew.  You are so kind to let me know.  (I remember the first time I learned my own remote had one of those buttons.  These days I look at those remotes with a sharper eye - or so I like to think!)

I was watching Cracker Factory w/Angel & hostess Mary awhile ago. Tried using closed captioning on 2 different channels I receive QVC on, both in HD, but it was a no go. Tried other channels and it was working, just not for QVC. PHOOEY!! I wonder why. In any case I had to resort to muting it. Anyone else who can't use cc for QVC or is it something with my cable or tv?

@shaggygirl  Closed Captions is a setting on the TV. When my hearing aids go in for a tune up, I use that all the time. You can mute the show & if you see something wonderful (?), look it up online to get the details. I try to listen to as little “hoo ha” from the hosts and vendors as possible.

In my case, I can just remove my remove my hearing aids.

Thank you but in my case it's a button on the remote and thanks to someone else who posted I now know that CC on QVC in my area seems to come on at 7:00am. Think the other person said for her it's at 6:00am. Not sure what time is goes off at night, guessing midnight. For QVC there's just one hostess that is usually on in the early morning hours for whom I need to use it. I can mute but if I want to know what is being said about the product would like the CC. It's not a big deal though, it's only occasionally I watch it that early in the AM.

Re: No Closed Captioning on QVC?

I happened to turn my tv on Saturday at 7 a.m. when closed captioning turned on.  It said "closed captioning provided by QVC" so I gues they decided to not have it during the night time hours.
