If you want to try an item for the first time, such as a new top or something for the house, it was a little bit of an incentive. Yes, I realize, lots of other sites don't refund original shipping, but as I said, it was an advantage to shopping with QVC. Now they are like others, so I for one would be less likely to buy from them, all other things being equal. I am nit a big returner, either. But they must feel it will benefit them.Sounds like they're dammed if they do and dammed if they don't. This is one of the things I read the most complaints about and now they reduce shipping and I'm seeing more complaints than kudos for that around the board.
As for returns - I thought it had been that they only give the shipping back on items that were damaged or defective. I remember being told to be sure to check 'defective' on the form. Either way, it's only fair. If somebody just changes their mind or doesn't like something I imagine some of the responsibility is on them.

Linda Davies is sure brave to model this swimsuit.
eta: the original price for this item was $79.50....ridiculous, imo!

It's nice that they're trying to improve but the Q is a dinosaur. But unless the item is oversized S/H should be free period. That includes multiples of items.

I bought two cardi's last fall on the same order and they arrived in separate bags weighing less than 1 lb (no hanger). And I paid about $5.97 for the first one with the 2nd getting a bit of a rake off. Waste of resources to do it that way but people were demanding to know how they justified their shipping rates when it was all placed in one bag.
eta: correction....I paid $6.71 and the 2nd one was 3.36. On another order I bought an Irish sweater and the sh was $12.70 and the 2nd one was 6.33. The Irish cardi's were very itchy despite people saying that they weren't. As soon as I put it on, the back of my neck wouldn't stop itching...returned both.

hsn has actually been IMPROVING the way they handle returns. when i use my hsn card they refund me the amount that they charged me to send an item back using their prepaid label. they refund it in the form of spendable cash to use on a future purchase.

Same here. I ordered some tops in different colors and they all came in separate bags. It was silly. If S/H were free perhaps they would be more efficient. Or at least try to be.

Also, I noticed that the bags are not made with a pull off strip for returns. Wow, did Qvc really think one needed that to make a return? I just put them in the same bag anyway, fold it over a couple times and then hit it with a stapler.

I don't like the fact that unless I return something because it's defective, or they made an error, they will not refund my S&H. I return clothing or shoes because they don't fit or look awful on me. Now I'll have to think more than twice about whether or not to order apparel. But at 80, going to the B&M stores is difficult. Almost everything I wear comes from the Q.

I was shocked when I found out that a lot of people buy from the Q a lot of things and then return them en masse. I was in a UPS place a couple times when I saw ladies returning scads of merchandise. Couple even were quite vocal about ordering just to look at them, etc and then returning since they did not have to pay. That is WRONG. So I have no problem at all with anyone - including me - paying if we order on that basis. I realized then what a hit the Q and am sure other businesses took, when people did that. Also just as sure many if not most things were damaged, worn, etc at time of return.
Overall I think the changes are a plus.

The new lower shipping rates work out fine for me. I really don't return many things because I am so careful about what I buy.
What I do not appreciate is raising the prices of items to make up for the lower shipping rates.
