Re: New religious postage stamp

Both the stamps are so pretty, i have to wonder if someday ,they will not be able to sell these, how sad would that be.

When you lose some one you L~O~V~E, that Memory of them, becomes a TREASURE.

Re: New religious postage stamp

I prefer religious Christmas cards and stamps over the secular themed ones. While I can appreciate the classic artistry and beauty of the 15th century art on this stamp, it is not my taste.

In the twenty-first century, for me, Christianity is about joy, the Good News and Christmas is about the celebration of a joyous birth.  I see no joy in this art, do not relate to it, and that is why I will purchase the 2nd religious version shown in another thread.

Strive for respect instead of attention. It lasts longer.

I love this.  It's in the style of a much earlier century.  15th maybe?  We must have an art historian on the forum 😊

Florentine Madonna and Child

This Christmas Forever stamp features a detail of Madonna and Child, a 15th-century tempra-on-panel painting in the Widener Collection of the National Gallery of Art in Washington, DC. The painting is dated to circa 1470, and its anonymous artist is known only as “a Follower of Fra Filippo Lippi and Pesellino.” William Gicker of Washington, DC, was the art director for the stamp.
