New law could block Robocall it once and for all

[ Edited ]

The Senate just passed a bill that could put an end to robocalls. Of course, this bill must go to The House  for revision and a final vote. It’s also not a panacea to end every Robocall.

I wouldn't hold my breath hoping it works and they can't get through.

I've been hearing about this lately. As others have said, it would be nice if it actually works this time.

7 calls one morning this week. No use asking who is calling so I just hang up.

Most robo calls originate overseas.  I don't know how they can be controlled by Congress.

I do not foresee the abolishment of robocalls, unfortunately.  These companies will always find a way around the law, especially since most are generated overseas and they don't care one thing about our laws.

Remember the "Do Not Call" list?  Remember that it was going to reduce and maybe eliminate nuisance calls?  How did that work out?

I suspect the "Robocall" purveyors are already working out ways around this new law.  I predict the new law will be as effective as the "Do Not Call" list.

We've been receiving more if those annoying calls lately.  Maybe the callers are afraid the law will be approved so they're getting as many done now as possible.  A call came through on my cell the other day, out of curiosity I picked it up.  It was a woman speaking in Chinese;  I do not speak or understand Chinese!  Couldn't tell if it was a recording or a live call.

I really don't understand the point of robo calls.  Most of the time they are recordings and many times there is no one there...most people either just hang up or never answer....how is this making these callers any money?
