Re: New! Tampax Menstrual Cup

[ Edited ]

Oh thanks, @sidsmom.  I missed that.  Oh gross.  Now we're cleaning these things?

Good from an environmental standpoint, I guess.  Less waste but I wonder how soon the sewers start getting clogged up with the flushers out there.  Will these be like K-cups in the landfill?  Oh gross.  I know it's reality but part of is just from remembering just the oh grossness of having that whole mess to deal with.

@missy1

They can be left in up to 12 hours, so removing it at home

will be the most likely scenario.  But if in a public restroom,

it can be wiped out with tissue & re-inserted.

At $40 a pop, I don't think there will be too much flushing. I can see this being popular with eco conscious young women. Also, there are problems in some women's prisons with the rationing of feminine products, this might be an alternative.

With the price of tampons and pads, this may be a more economical choice for women in poverty. It might be something Planned Parenthood could distribute free of charge. I can see the advantage to this product and understand what @sidsmom is saying- Tampax may "mainstream" a product that's been in the background for many, many years.

Very old "tech".  Nothing new.  So glad I left all that behind with a hysterectomy when I was 28.

I’ve used a Diva cup for years. It’s no messier than pads or tampons. It only needs to be changed out twice a day.

@bathina

YES!

I like the way you think on a larger scale!

I really wish feminine care was somehow/someway free of charge.

The amount of money spent from Day 1 to Menopause is staggering.

@justbee

I've decided to think of the experience as 40 years of character-building.

LOL!!  I think the Girl Scout motto should have been "Be prepared!"
