From the UK.
Study says immunity lasts 3 weeks to a few months.
Sorry, it's not good news. But it is important to know.

More info in another article on same subject:
“These reports highlight the need to develop strong vaccines, because immunity that develops naturally during infection is suboptimal and short-lived in most people,” Akiko Iwasaki, a viral immunologist at Yale University who was not involved in either study, tells The New York Times.

Yes, I read that those coming to donate blood to provide antibodies for Covid therapy are finding out that, over time, they show less and less antibody density.
Tom Hanks and his wife have donated antibodies twice and in one of his recent interviews he said he was told their blood revealed almost no presence of antibodies at their last visit to a blood center.
Though immunity may not last more than a few months, it remains to be seen if the body will be stimulated to rebuild important antibodies once being re-exposed. This is one of the factors that makes the vaccine so important. It has to provide lasting resistance to Covid-19. It might need booster shots the way tetanus and other vaccines work, but any defense against Covid-19 has to last more than a few months.
This is a very dangerous disease.

@QueenDanceALot Do you have details about the study? Who did it? How? You know..details.

Studies have found that although the density of antibodies decrease over time there is T-Cell memory which also offers protection to the virus.

Even though my daughter and her family all had Covid, she still warned is about staying away or at least social distancing. I think she has had doubts about relying on immunity from the beginning.

I should add that her and our doubt stems from the fact that we have been in this mess a relatively short period of time, too short to know whether we can rely on immunity.

We will be in this pickle for quite a while. We let covid get the best of us. I hope we learn from this debacle.

All these studies and tests, but still no answers.

That's the nature of the young beast, @rms1954. But really, we do know much more than we did six months ago. Doctors have found what works better and what doesn't when it comes to treatment. And we also know a lot more about transmission.
