I can't wait for future possibilities for all that think if pet is well behaved it's acceptable.......
I have a friend that lives in the country...she has an Alpaca (the Alpaca was a rescue) and a horse....Can you just picture either one of the animals in a store....And why not ride her horse into the city and to the grocery store. She would help the environment and the horse would bring comfort to her as she notices rising grocery prices....the money she saves in gasoline might cover those costs....HiHoSilver! Ẃhy it looks like the fun has already begun

I like the sign but how will they enforce it? The law is the same & the ones breaking it knew they were breaking it before. I don’t see the new sign suddenly making them into law abiding citizens.
@willdob3 It is certainly being enforced in my state. Greeters at these large corporate stores are put through special training which involves asking the customer a series of questions to qualify the animal as a true service animal and then how to deal with the customer if the animal does not qualify.

We were in a restaurant once and a man was holding a darling little dog on his lap. It wasn't wearing a vest, or anything , and it was as good as gold. He was seated at a table petting the dog.
I assume it was a comfort dog, because I don't think ,I have ever seen ,a service dog this tiny.
I did wonder, if anyone had complained, but ,I did tell the man ,what a darling dog it was. I wasn't upset about it. However, if it had been a big dog ,out of control, I might have been. I am not sure that comfort animals receive any training at all?

I wish ALL stores would do this!
And also proves the point I was trying to make, the reason given...to maintain cleanliness of the cart

@Spurt @missy1 That's great. That mean's they're starting to enforce the law. Anyway a true service animal would never be in a cart, the owner wouldn't even need to be told that.

I wonder if businesses make a distinction between service and “emotional support” animals.
It’s nice they’re making an effort, but I think it will be hard to enforce in some cases.
@esmerelda It says right on the sign that comfort or emotional support animals are not service animals. Stores with these signs are most definitely enforcing it as well.

I saw a woman in a local grocery store who had her small dog in the shopping cart where one would put their food. Unsanitary.
