New Mexico on Fire!

[ Edited ]

A special Fire Alert was just issued for an area in the Northeast.mountains in the state. Have never before seen this type of alert.  There are fires in other parts if the state too.

We've had 55mph winds all day and 11% relative humidity.  Everything is very dry and of course the wind is fanning the fires.

Buildings have already been destroyed, major highways closed and evacuations are underway.

Thankfully, nowhere near me.

@Kachina624 The wind will not stop! It is getting stronger down here. I hope they can get the resources to contain the fires. We certainly do not want to see a repeat of last fire season.

I'm concerned for Kansas, Missouri, Oklahoma, and Kentucky. Hope these wildfires can be controlled.

Check out this dot gov fire and smoke map:

https://fire.airnow.gov/#

To get a better image of just the fires and smoke go to the upper right corner and turn off the green monitors (diamond-shaped icon, drop down and turn green dots/squares/triangles off there)

That is so scary, we had rain in CA a few days ago, too bad it doesn't make its way to New Mexico.  Be safe!

@Kachina624.  Oh no!!  Good you're not affected and so sorry for your state. High winds and such low humidity, that's terrible.

Wish you could have some of our rain, we were pelted today with it and hail.  You wouldn't want the tornado warning though, one did touch down in Akron CO.  Went to a restaurant 4pm today and the sherriffs evacuated the patrons a couple hours before because of the warning.

@rockygems123   we wish we had your rain too.  I can't even remember the last rain at my house.  Last fall or summer.  Keep your hail though.  Denver is famous for it.

@Kachina624   I'm so sorry to hear of the wild fires. That is

terrifying and horrific. Fire has always been one of

my fears. My father, brother and uncle were all

fire fighters and I grew up hearing about so many

                    devastating fires.

I hope that the fires can be controlled and

prevented from spreading. The wind is a big

                     factor along with the dryness.

I had to close my windows tonight from the

smoke. It has been windy here all day and we live

near a large wooded area, hundreds of acres. It is

a large reserve north of Boston.

I hope that you will be safe and that the smoke

                      doesn't reach where you are.

@Enufstuff    Fortunately tonight the wind is blowing smoke away from us.  Colorado may get some of it.

Hope it isn't caused by the invasion coming in camong and cooking and smoking there because it will only be the start.
