Re: New Mask Thread....warning if mask threads upset you😷

@lovesrecess  Our small tourist town Wal-Mart employees are pretty good about wearing masks. I have seen a couple of them not wearing masks properly but have seen more distributors like bread and snack food personnel stocking shelves not wearing masks. Some areas like Tx.  Wal-Mart's  are already strongly encouraged.

My neighbor works there and is on a leave of absence from Wal-Mart  as can not tolerate wearing a mask. It must depend on the manager and the Wal-Mart what they require or tolerate?

My issue is the customers from all over the country that visit  our Walmart bare faded. I was in yesterday a a woman with two daughters in their 20s without masks were talking  and laughing loudly to an Associate Supervisor. I overheard her say  it will be Monday.  My guess it was  about masks and it was in fact  on the news last night.

Today, I'm feeling a bit stressed, at the huge outbread again in certain areas of the country.  We just can't let our guard down in this.  It seems that it   will go on for awhile.  Patience and persistance is needed.

Once again those hospitals and all those workers, will be worked so hard.

@SeaMaiden -- I want to say that I always read your mask postings, and I always agree with you 100%.   Just wish I could give you more than one heart.

I've seen several different doctors and specialists on TV lately who say that if everyone would wear a mask, this virus would almost disappear in 4-6 weeks.   I believe we should all should try it to see if it works.

@tototwo    For such a simple easy to do solution that may save many lives  why not?  It is a minor inconvience in our lives.... that can save lives.  Thank you!

I think all of our posts are proving my original point.  When you have both sides of the mouth talking with mixed messages, people tune out.  I did because who does a lay person like me know what to believe?

I don't have time for it with a full time job, burying relatives, and supporting elder family members.  The media needs to get their act together and report more responsibly.

I won't hold my breath on the media reporting responsibly. All they care about it stirring up emotions to boost ratings.

@Lali1 Sadly, if you talk to the doctors and the nurses working in the covid units in the hard hit areas, this is just not accurate.  In fact, a nurse I know working in Miami wants to know why it isn't raising alarm all over the country.  She is so very frustrated and tired from working covid ICUs and has no idea how they are going to manage.

They would certainly take issue with the media just trying to stir up emotions to boost ratings.  But I have a feeling the ones I know would say "do it more" because we are drowning here and no one seems to care what is going on out there.

So please, send more of this emotion stirring media her way in Miami would ya?  Because evidently, it hasn't stirred emotions enough in her area.  At least enough to change behavior so that transmission rate starts to drop and they stop seeing younger and younger people in the ICU.

She has a 27 year old in the ICU in critical condition  on a ventilator and is struggling with the fact that the wife just can't grasp how very serious her husband is because they just went to a swimming party and someone there ended up testing positive.  He's young you know and is supposed to do just peachy keen even if he does get it. And you know....it's just the media blowing things out of proportion and trying to scare everyone.

Too bad for this 27 year old.  Sure hope he makes it and hope he recovers without long term impact.  But you know, if you talk about it...it is just the media stirring up emotion.

It is a fact that the media stirs up emotions to get better ratings. Believe what you want. I won't be their puppet and get riled up because they want me to. My post mentioned nothing about the virus so why you needed to post the long lecture to me is confusing. I have stayed home and don't need to be told to take this virus seriously.

You know, @Lali1, everybody is allowed to have their own opinion. And my opinion is that dismissing this as bunch of hype is a slap in the face for every single suffering or dying with this novel virus and for all who are working so hard help stop more from suffering and dying.

Where and how did I dismiss this virus as hype? Sheesh you really projected a lot into my post about the media and how bad I think they are. If I thought this was all hype why would I have stayed home for so long. Go lecture someone else.

@Sheila P-Burg- indeed it's a CRIME that the virus wasn't considered anything to be concerned about by the supposed leaders. Oh it makes me so angry I could scream.

LOL Walmart is not enforcing  state mandates (of orders, not laws, BTW) in states where face diaper-wearing is required. Walmart is certainly not going to jettison customers from their stores for failure of shoppers whose states (and their competing stores) don't require face diapers, to wear them.

No. They are enforcing wearing masks. But if you want to wear a diaper or a panty shield instead, as a way of "sticking it to the Man" and walking on the wild side, they may still let you in. And you could give everyone a much needed laugh. I fully support you in this.

I don't provide links myself. However on the CDC front page they advocate for mask. However in the advance search , then other links the report on 3 types of masks come up. N95, surgical and cloth. I personally find it disconcerting on the very same website the cons of surgical and cloth mask hidden then prompted hard on the front page. Now do I think they can reevaluate the pros and cons? Yes but I wish they were more transparent about their change of mind.

@Nancy Drew - I've read through the information on the CDC's website on wearing masks; all of the sections on the subject and it firmly advocates wearing a mask (and how to care for them, etc.).  There is no mention of the issue of "micro mildew".

After your above post, I also did an "Advanced Search" and I still could not find any reference to what you have mentioned above or in your previous posts.

Can you please tell me what you put in the search bar to produce the information you are saying is provided by the CDC - because I simply don't find anything like that on their website.

I would like to be able to verify it for myself.

As of July 17 it has been scrubbed from their website. People have screenshot it. CDC is going to have a hard time with credibility on mask for how they handled their previous report vs their updated report. It would of been better if they put out a why we changed our mind report.

Wrong is still wrong just because you benefited from it.

"The state of Florida has now had more positive cases than all of Europe."

Not sure where you're getting your information from  but as of  15Jul according to the European Centre for Disease Control and Prevention

Europe has 2.7 million cases of Covid 19 with over 200,000 deaths.

Florida has 300,000 cases with 4,250 deaths.

It's not helpful to post inaccurate information.

To clarify, this was from an online report from a Tampa news station. It was posted Monday, referring to Sunday's totals.

The state recorded a record 15,300 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday. That’s more than all the new cases in Europe combined, Dr. Ashish Jha, director of the Harvard Global Health Institute told the Today Show’s Savannah Guthrie on Monday. There were 15,284 new cases in Europe Sunday, data shows.

It’s the largest single-day tally for any state since the outbreak began. Florida broke California’s record of daily positive cases — 11,694, set on Wednesday. New York had the previous record of daily positive cases in April —11,571.

“The situation in Florida is pretty worrisome. There were more cases yesterday in Florida than all of Europe yesterday, and this is obviously a situation that is getting worse,” Jha said.

The death toll rose by 514 last week, an average of 73 deaths per day. More than 4,300 people have died in Florida since the pandemic began.
