Dr. Fauci used to make regular appearances during the WH news briefings. I know he has been making the rounds on talk shows, etc. but when exactly was the last time he stood at a WH news briefing and clarified the virus information.

I am not sure what anyone else saw in the beginning but the Dr. Ozs and Jennifer Ashtons did complete segments on why masks not only didn't help but could actually make you sicker by holding fluids and germs close to your face. Don't wear them.
The masks the general public is primarily wearing then and now are not what the medical personnel needed or use so the whole shortage theory is nonsense to me.
They made a mistake based on the information they had at the time. At some point, people like me become fatigued, tune it out, and as you can see, it takes some time to tune back in again especially when no one has the decency to say hey, we were wrong. New guidelines here.

@Sheila P-Burg It has been obvious for quite a while that there is tremendous disagreement between TPTB and the medical experts including Dr. Fauci. That should answer your question.

The situation is fluid when it come to his novel virus. The most important thing we as lay people can do is to acummulate our information from the most learned and credible experts. There will always differences in nuance and what is stressed, but overall, the message will be the same.
Tune out the noise or it could kill us.

Totally agree. Since we have let this become a divisive issue with all kinds of misinformation out there in any attempt to discredit the severity of this virus or its impact we are now in the category of the only industrialized country that has managed this virus so poorly.
The state of Florida has now had more positive cases than all of Europe.
We are right there with all the under developed countries.
So very sad, especially when it didn't have to be this way. And still doesn't.

@Laura14 Then why do medical personnel and in other hazardous industries often wear masks for 14 hours a day?

@Deree Read further. They wear a different kind.

@pitdakota Yes we can argue who said what when 'til the cows come home but The Very Bottom Line is.... I think most intelligent people now have enough information to know what they need to do on an individual level. And I would hope all one has to do is look at FL, AZ, TX and a few other states that are in dire straits to *want* to do something to protect themselves and not have their community become the next disaster area. The solution is plain as the noses on our faces.

I have posted several times on our local FB page and my immune deficiency page to. Believe ir or not there are still people who think that masks are not necessary, that if I wear one you do not have to

We still don’t have enough PPE. Reusing N95, sometimes for days, even weeks for some nurses. We got an intrafacility email about an eminent gown shortage. Already a shortage of IV bags - most antibiotics are pushes anymore which is a lot more uncomfortable for the patient (it burns) and not great for the veins. Warnings of antibiotic shortages also.

@bikerbabe It is just exasperating isn't it? Especially when it could be resolved.
I would absolutely hate having to give IV antibiotics via push rather than drip. Not only does it make it more uncomfortable for the patient, it is more time consuming for the nurse if it is a peripheral IV. Those veins tend to become phlebotic much more readily which means more IV starts, interrupted schedules for antibiotics until a new line is established. Or more time and trouble for all involved if a central line or PICC has to be placed because all the peripheral veins are shot.
