@Memebell This is a new virus.  Our experts now know that asymptomatic people can spread the virus, so they are encouraging everyone to wear masks, since someone could be a carrier and not know.

Yes, @pitdakota  - Thanks from me too.

I don't know why so many are hung up on what we were told months ago when all of this was very new to everyone.   As they learned new things, those new things were communicated to us, and now it's been proven that masks and social distancing do work.  Look at what happened in New York!   So let's be grateful for new information that could give us an end to this nightmare.  (I listen to the science and medical professionals too, and the states that have done that are the states that have seen their numbers go down dramatically.  The ones that ignore it are in horrible shape right now.)

They know more now than they did then, which I think is to be expected.  Better to move forward with this new understanding rather than dismiss everything as being ineffective.

Re: New Mask Thread....warning if mask threads upset you😷

@Marp The doctor that prescribed CIPRO for us when we were not sick....pretty sure that was not legal.....did it for hundreds of people.  No one ever called him on it and 20 yrs later he is retired. Who paid for it?  The insurance co's of course.  We and the hundreds of other people who got these prescriptions for CIPRO were 2,500 miles away from the nearest anthrax infection and the craziness didn't stop there.

The conversation then turned into an airborne assault that was suppose to happen too but of course did not. Nevertheless we were told to choose a room in our home that we could use as a safe room and told to make it air tight and to teach our children as well how and when to use this safe room. We were told to choose a room without a window and to shutoff our a/c and to place towels under the door to seal out the waft of airborne poison that some lunatic was about to unleash onto the U.S.  We were told to buy portable radios so we would know when it was safe to exit from our safe room and to stock up on food and other supplies.

When I saw that we still had the CIPRO in our cupboard I told my husband I was going to take it to the repository for expired and unused medication so it could be properly destroyed.  The fear was so ingrained that even 20 years later his initial reaction was to ask me, are you sure we should, it's good to have on hand just in case isn't it?

We were not told the truth. How do we know the so called experts are telling the truth now. I don't know about you but if my doctor told me one thing and then I found out they lied to me I would find a new doctor. I'm staying home because I don't belive that wearing a mask while standing next to someone wearing a mask with the virus is full proof.

I am glad you are staying home since you don't want to wear a mask. Thank you. Heart

I have worn a mask both times I have gone into a store. Nowhere did I say I wasn't wearing them. You just made an assumption about me that is completely false.

It's not about being lied to.  We were given the best information they had at the time.  A lot about Covid was completely unknown - not something that had ever been dealt with before - so of course there was somewhat of a learning curve at the beginning and as time went by.

I will take advice from someone like Dr. Fauci over conjecture and random thoughts thrown together by people with no background in infectious disease.  It's laughable how many regular folks suddenly view themselves as experts with more knowledge than people who have long and dedicated careers in the field.  The true scientists, the true experts, have no reason to lie to us.  They are the sources of information that I trust.

(Btw, no one has ever said that wearing a mask is foolproof.  The idea is to to do the best we can, and mask-wearing is absolutely more effective than not wearing masks. The numbers tell the tale.)

@NYC Susan - I don't know...the experts might not have all the answers even now.

I think the suggestion of ingesting disinfectant might prove more effective.  It would certainly "decrease the surplus population" (thank you, Charles Dickens and Scrooge).  Smiley LOL

Sorry, I just couldn't resist.  (And I will always listen to the true experts, who only have our best interests at heart.)
