@Nancy Drew - I've read through the information on the CDC's website on wearing masks; all of the sections on the subject and it firmly advocates wearing a mask (and how to care for them, etc.). There is no mention of the issue of "micro mildew".
After your above post, I also did an "Advanced Search" and I still could not find any reference to what you have mentioned above or in your previous posts.
Can you please tell me what you put in the search bar to produce the information you are saying is provided by the CDC - because I simply don't find anything like that on their website.
I would like to be able to verify it for myself.
As of July 17 it has been scrubbed from their website. People have screenshot it. CDC is going to have a hard time with credibility on mask for how they handled their previous report vs their updated report. It would of been better if they put out a why we changed our mind report.
@Nancy Drew July 17 is tomorrow.
I think that you've been tricked by misinformation. I checked every possibility regarding this supposed statement made by the CDC and came up only Snopes and other sites debunking it.

I don't think so. I am pretty savy. I do a lot of research on both sides. I am secure in my statement. If I find out I am wrong and was tricked I will be the first to say so.

I went to Walmart yesterday morning for a return.
They have a uniformed security person checking everyone into the store and enforcing wearing a face covering.
It was very orderly.
In Virginia, it's required indoors, so Walmart here didn't need a store policy.
Now, once people were inside, that is another issue and most had them around their chin or just over their mouth.
My friend set up 2 Etsy stores for funny sayings on masks. If you have to wear one, at least be funny.

That's fair enough, @Nancy Drew. But until there is even a hint of accuracy and given that it's been widely debunked, I'm not going to hold my breath. I'm sure that you would feel the same in reverse. With all that we're going through right now, it's not a biggie, at least for me. :-)

I saw it on CDC website with my own eyes so I don't feel tricked. For me I want the most accurate info on mask. I don't want mask doing more harm than good. I go to the CDC because I don't trust ANY media nor government leaders100% on the Covid issue. If I can't trust the CDC then what?

I am starting to believe there are faux news outlets that look like real press online and are really sources of inaccurate info.
That is such a shame. Stick with the tried and true.

Regarding the information (or lack of) on the CDC website: screenshots can be faked and websites can be hacked.
There are a lot of pathetic people out there with an agenda, only wanting to create more division.
I will continue to follow the latest guidelines as advised by the country's top disease experts. I have no interest in suspect rumors and fake news. And I have no interest in playing the game of "but before they said..." as justification for not following the simple request to wear a mask.

I am so tired of idiots making things up to suit their own agendas...
The repeated excuse that each state, county, town, mousehole, etc. should decide if a mask mandate is needed there holds no water. NONE. You don’t wait until 85% of the population in a town/county/state/country is infected & deathly ill. You wear the masks so that they don’t become infected and deathly ill. So, if someone is in an area with very few cases (these places will not exist soon at the rate the virus is spreading) the people need to wear masks to keep it that way.
Really tired of idiots and fools trying to kill us all.

Cloth mask: Do not filter anything. As you exhale, you are ridding your lung of contaminates and carbon dioxide. Cloth mask trap this carbon dioxide the best. It actually risk your health rather than protect it. The moisture caught in these mask will become mildew ridden in 30 minutes. Dry coughing, enhanced allergies, sore throat are all symptoms of a micro mildew in your mask.
The CDC reports on N95 respirator and surgical mask. There is a wealth of information over there to make an informed decision.@Nancy Drew, I have seen this debunked many, many times. Are you saying that you saw this on the CDC site? It's been tested and found not to be true.
I follow the CDC closely - It has been my #1 source for all of this. I check it out every day, and I definitely never saw that. I just checked the website to be sure, and it doesn't say that at all. It actually explains quite clearly why cloth masks are effective.
