No, she would be of no help to any other host. That was not in her. She's concerned with herself. That is why I will never miss her, or care what she's doing. The problem Cathy has needs to be addressed by a speech pathologist, or a speech therapist. I do hope Cathy finds one that will help her. She has potential, if she will get rid of that baby, high pitched voice.

I think it's kind of rude to keep harping on a person's voice when the pitch is usually something that can't be helped. In fact, that is not what bothers me about her voice...it's her regional accent that comes through which is suppose to be a real big no-no when you are speaking to an entire country but maybe qvc management no longer cares. Over time I'm sure I will no longer hear her accent but I did notice it right away.

Don't you think a pleasant voice would be #1 when hiring?

@missy1 I was watching last night and wowee that voice was annoying. I think she must read here because she really amped it up. I take back everything I said.

I think she’s hot, refreshing bundle of energy, charming and will soon be on prime time replacing one of the old timers.

@LilacTree wrote:Most of the reasons I mute QVC when watching is that I cannot stand their voices. I don't know any women, family or friends, who talk in these high pitched, little girl voices.
I won't name any of them, but it's at least half of them. It is a solvable problem. Women can learn to speak in a more modulated tone and that should be a requirement for any woman on TV whether on the Q, or the news, or any other venue.
For me it's more important than appearance.
ETA: This is one of the reasons I liked the two Lisas, who are now gone. They had lovely, well modulated voices, and spoke slowly. The fact that they were both beautiful was secondary.
I sometimes put tv sound on mute.
Closed Caption works for me.
Also, their voice hasn’t changed because they are pre- menopausal? Not yet sounding manly?

@puttypiesmom wrote:I thought qvc didn't like it when one of their hosts displayed their regional voice. Supposedly all hosts are to sound like we all came from the same place. I don't care for CP's voice but I have gotten used to it and no longer hit the mute button. Regarding Alex Butler I thought it was unfair of Qvc because they worked her to the bone. Every time I turned on qvc there she was. She had the most dialogue of any host and it seemed the most products to sell....even more than the seasoned people. So in other words, they used her up and then threw her away. What ever mistake she supposedly made I'm sure was nothing major and in fact put her out there and just waited for anything to nail her with. That is my opinion as she had the most exposure for someone that new. Something is just rotten in Denmark as they say. I did see the posts about her leaving over 6 months ago but did not participate. It was truly awful what posters said about her. The meanest of the mean came out with their vitriol and pat each other on the back agreeing with one another.
Interesting.
Is that why they don’t have hosts with New York accents?
I cant stand it when people from New York call in with their testimonials. Hard to listen to. It’s like listening to reruns of All In The Family. LOL.
Thats just me, I know they can’t help what they sound like.

Maybe smoking will make her voice change to something more lower pitched, and manly?
