Same with not taking a shower. I guess some think it's ok to use those body deodorant sticks all over. Disgusting.
It's called Lazy.
I shower daily even if I'm really sick, shingles, broken ankle etc.

I remember shopping with her one time and I was searching for sheet sets on sale and she said no sets for her because she had no use for the top sheet. She just needed the bottom sheet (not even fitted) and pillowcases. She said that they used duvet covers over their down comforters and just use that duvet as the topper. And she and her husband each had their own duvet for their side of the bed so they didn't have to share.
That was a strange idea to me then, but right now I'm using a duvet with cover - but I still use the top sheet underneath! It's a king size duvet, no separate ones for DH & I. With a senior pet (with an ocassional "iffy" tummy) it's easy to unzip the cover and wash it. My beautiful bed spread with all the pillows are put away right now.
IMO, buying a sheet set means you can use both the fitted and the flat as a bottom sheet.
I'm really surprised some think no top sheet is unusual.
People have skipped using a top sheet for ages, all over the world.

I've seen those all over deodorant sprays advertised, but not sticks.
They rub a stick all over their body? I don't get it.

If taking a shower at night and not again in the morning makes the top sheet or blankets too dirty then seem to think it is ok to just take an evening shower and not morning one... well

in college, i never used a top sheet.
once i was married, i used a top sheet, mainly because it just made my bed look more complete. lol
divorced and still use a top sheet. i get hot and sweaty pretty easily, especially during the summer. i do like to be covered, so a top sheet accomplishes that. they HAVE to be microfiber.
all bed linens get washed in HOT water using the SANITIZE feature on my washing machine.
i also do NOT tuck my top sheet in between the mattress and boxspring. i absolutely HATE that!
my kids are twentysomethings and one doesnt and never used a top sheet, the others do use top sheets.
@sunshine45 Now see, this is a prime example about how it's all about choices and personal comfort. I cannot stand microfiber sheets. To me, they're never crisp or cool compared to percale. I had two sets and donated both of them.

I think it's funny that the 'inventer' of the body deoderant says "Why didn't someone think of this sooner?" I used feminine hygiene spray 50 years ago so she didn't do her homework very well. I won't buy her products just because I think she's being dishonest.
@PA Mom-mom-the recommendation is 10% of your body weight, since DH and I sare one we split the difference and use a weight of 15#. We use with cotton fabric so that it still breathes. I love it, we bought one for the motorhome as well.

I always use a top sheet, because I have duvet on my down comforter, and don't want to wash that often. I use Sferra sheets, wash in cold water, woolite with some Lysol sanitizer. Granddaughters iron them for me. I am a sheet snob to the hilt, lol. Have to Supima or Egyptian cotton. Love Sferra quality. Oh my, I have found the younger generation doesn't know how to make beds, at least until older. All my grands as they got older and helped over here learned to appreciate a well made bed. They said they didn't know what they were missing, my grandsons don't use too sheets, and when they have them they kick to bottom.

I can't imagine not using a top sheet. In the summertime, that's usually my only bed covering while I sleep. I like to launder my sheets twice a week, I wouldn't want to have to launder my coverlet that often.
