We recently switched from regular ATT phone to ATT Uverse and one of the biggest reasons was so that I could use nomorobo.
The thing I like about both Uverse and nomorobo is that it blocks the calls BEFORE they get to you. I had a box like the one mentioned here, many years ago. It was all fine and good but you needed to keep blocking numbers and they still got through.
For me, the ability to block numbers before they can get to my phone number has been golden.
BTW, most phones you buy these days have the ability to block numbers right in the phone. But it's the same deal - it rings once each time and then it blocks it. It doesn't block it from getting TO your phone.
I have to say that since I switched to Uverse (they also have the ability to block numbers before they get to your phone) and am using nomorobo, it's very peaceful. I don't have to turn off all my phones, thereby missing calls I actually want, just to keep from being disturbed all the time, day and night.
It shouldn't be on US, anyway, to stop this. It should be on them to not be able to call people with unwanted calls, especially when we pay extra for an unlisted and private number. I get tired of hearing 'don't answer the phone' or 'turn off the ringers'. I am not the problem. I pay my phone bills. THEY are the problem and they don't pay my phone bills.
With the Panasonic KX-GF35 series the phone can be set so once a number is blocked the phone does not ring. Also, when silent hours are set the phone can be programmed to let certain numbers/groups ring through.

Marp - That is very cool! My model Panasonic is a few years old and I haven't seen the ability to keep it from ringing. I've blocked many a number and each time they keep calling it just rings once and then blocks. Clearly I was not happy with that set up.
Glad to know that yours can block it from getting through at all, after you've blocked it. That's technology at its best. ![]()

That's nice for you, but nomorobo is not available everywhere. I've been checking on it for a couple of years & still can't get it.
Supposedly it is in my area but I have my phone through TimeWarner Cable. I went through the entire set-up process but one of the icons I am supposed to press to complete this doesn't show up for me. It will only show up to CS if they pull up my account. And they aren't allowed to do this for me.

I have Time Warner as well, and was not able to complete the process.

I just checked this website and found I'd already registered our phone number. We still get robo calls.

That's what I did, also. I can also block calls through my phone provider Time Warner Cable for FREE.

Not sure if this will be helpful for everyone, however, some phone companies have VIP calling. You program in only the phone numbers that can get through. Everyone else gets the 'not taking phone calls' message. The downside is that only 10 numbers can be programmed in. Our carrier is Verizon.
We also used nomorobo, but calls were getting through.
I agree that unwanted calls are most annoying and it's too bad the phone companies don't do more to prevent them.

Geez, it seems like Verizon could have done better than that program.
I know the Panasonic phones used to limit the number of call blocks to 30.

I am kind of sorry I even started this thread. I only wanted to pass on what I thought was a sensational, easy product that works. You don't call anyone to set this up, no fees, nothing. All you get is a small box, plug it into your phone and the jack on the wall and that is it. The problem is solved once and for all.
I don't know what everyone is going on about nomorobo (have no clue what that is). But this is not it. I also have Time Warner and there is no problem whatsoever. I have not recieved one phony call since I received this a few days ago. It showed I blocked out 8 calls so far, and they have not called back. If you take the time to read the reviews you will see what I am talking about.
