We have another month to go before spring is officially here.
You're absolutely right but it seems like they must be talking about this year.
Maybe it's because it seems like spring in CA? Pink and white flowers are popping out on the trees everywhere. Hard to remember it's still winter here.

@teganslaw wrote:If I worried about every variant and strain announced, I would have a nervous breakdown. I plan on going about my life and keep on doing what has been working for me. Will be getting my second vaccine next week and still take precautions. Not much else I can do, so I won't worry about something that MIGHT happen.
@teganslaw @Not worried, just informed.

I want to make clear I am not California bashing - I was born and raised in Southern CA and have many relatives there and in the San Francisco area but I now live in WA State but everyone I know that has had Covid or died from Covid is in Southern CA. Many of the businesses that are supposed to be closed are secretly open (use the back door). A friend of mine who lives at beach told me there was a big bonfire a couple months ago in Newport Beach burning masks by young adults. They don't seem to able to follow any rules.
I am thankful for where I live because everyone wears masks and except in some rural areas where a couple of restaurants are open people are following the rules for the most part. I still have not gotten vaccinated because appts have been cancelled because of lack of vaccine. I have another appt next week on the Microsoft campus so hopefully I will get my first vaccine.

I tried to sign my husband and myself onto Virginia's website, it crashed shortly after LOL. I told him when they have it at our pharmacy we'll go. We've both been fine through this. Lucky? Maybe, but since I haven't won the lottery either I tend to not believe that. Blessings for those that got it. I haven't worried about this since it started. I worried more about becoming unemployed and losing my health insurance. We're 60 and would like to retire someday. Until then, do what you have to do to feel safe, the heck with what anyone says. I'm sure there will be variants of this virus for quite some time. There will be speculation, and the "we think" "it might" and "could be's" will be out there for some time as well. Every year I get my flu shot and hope it works for whatever "strain" is on tap for "flu season". I have the same philosophy here. If I spent my days worrying about "what ifs" I'd miss all the "what are's"
For me, I'll just keep living life. God knows when he has my ticket punched so I'm good with that. ![]()

Scientists here in New Mexico discovered we had our own, home-grown variant several months ago. Dont know whether its better or worse than the average, but I'm sure California's is probably better.

5,303 today and a 0.2% increase from prior day resulting in 49,877 deaths. The number of COVID-related deaths increased by 0.6 percent from the prior day total of 49,563.I hoping that Ca stops increasing in numbers. So disheartening.
I depend upon worldameter.com for the easiest access to numbers. They don't match your at all.
Here is the link. You see both today's and yesterday's for California.

From a Californian:
"My virus is better than your virus...." LOL just kidding. Your post made me laugh. I didn't know NM had its own virus. Lucky you. Lucky us. This thing is mutating so fast. Maybe every state gets to have its own. You know, like the state flower, state flag, etc.

Can't worry more than already have so can't worry anymore.
This is just more scare news. I'm sick of it. Like you said what else can we do than what we have been doing. I'm done being afraid and worried about everything under the sun.
I agree. I pay no attention to this stuff anymore. Scare news is an apt term for it. I am 70 years old and have no plans to even get the vaccine. I go about my normal routine. I go to grocery stores to get my groceries - I don't order online. I shop in actual stores, not online. In other words, I live my life. I am not hiding in my home in fear.
