Billy Crystal was my favorite. I like NPH but as another poster said; he seems more suited for the Tony's. He seemed to be trying too hard last night.

What happened at the end with the locked box? I didn't tape enough extra time to see it.

On 2/22/2015 KathyPet said: he delivers the lines that are written for him. Blame the writers. A few years ago NPH hosted the Tony Awards and the opening number was the most fabulous presentation I have ever seen on a awards show in 45 years of watching them.
Absolutely, hands-down ITA!!! He was unbelievable, and the first time that I witnessed his enormous talent in all its glory. It was jaw-dropping.

Neil Patrick Harris, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler, Jon Stewart, Billy Crystal, Ellen DeGeneris, etc. etc. They are all different and should not be expected to all do the same thing. You can't please everyone. The show should not BE about the host. The host is there to move the show along from presenter to presenter, act to act, award to award. Neil has done the Tony Awards host job in the past. I'm sure he won't do the Oscars again, with all the flack he has taken. I like him. I watched the whole show. I don't really have any complaints as far as awards shows go, except there are just too many of them within a few weeks' time.

Actually, Johnny Carson and Bob Hope were excellent hosts .... they were elegant, witty ... and very clever. ![]()
IMO, An awards show needs to a little more elegant than we've seen recently.

I thought Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin did a good job hosting the Oscars, as did Hugh Jackman. Billy Crystal has made it clear that he is done with hosting the Oscars, unfortunately.
