Re: Neil Diamond is retiring immediately

I am so sad to hear and read about Neil Diamond. I saw him in concert once and I have loved him and his music since I was a teenager. I wish him and his family the very best.

Happy 77th birthday!

"Sweet Caroline" is the first song I associate with Neil Diamond in the late  60s. What a career.

Re: Neil Diamond is retiring immediately

He has always been my absolute favorite.  I even loved the movie, The Jazz Singer, to the point that I've watched it several times.  I never tire of his music.  I never had the opportunity to see him in person sadly.  I'm really sorry to hear that he has Parkinson's disease.  He's such an awesome talent.  Even though he'll hopefully continue to compose, I can't imagine anyone singing his songs like he does.  Such a remarkable talent.  I wish him the best in dealing with this condition.  Parkinson's is awful.  I watched my father go through it for several years before he died (of colon cancer).

That's another sad disease anyone can get.  He'll always be special for "Sweet Caroline" to me.  Doesn't Michael J. Fox have this too?  That's so sad.

So does Linda Ronstadt, she can no longer sing, so sad.

Very sad to hear this.  Glad we got to see him twice in Las Vegas.  A great entertainer and songwriter.  Wish I had gone to more of his concerts.

Re: Neil Diamond is retiring immediately

Actually, he's only retiring from touring:

Neil Diamond is retiring from touring after he says he was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

Days shy of his 77th birthday, the rock legend is canceling his tour dates in Australia and New Zealand for March. He was on his 50th anniversary tour.

The Rock and Roll Hall of Famer offered his 'sincerest apologies' to those who planned to go to his shows and says he plans to still write, record and work on other projects 'for a long time to come.'
