Neil Diamond is retiring immediately

I just read (on Facebook) that Neil Diamond has been diagnosed with Parkinson's and is immediately retiring and cancelled the last leg of his anniversary tour. Very sad, brought tears to my eyes. I wish him all the best battling this disease.

PS) You know, I wasn't really into his music when I was young, but the past years I have been listening to and buying his music. Hes a fantastic artist.

That is indeed sad news.  Neil Diamond is a fantastic entertainer.  There have been several singers that I didn't "discover" until they were gone, including Elvis, John Denver, and Marty Robins.

I was "in love" with Neil Diamond when I was about 22-23.  Loved the origonal heart felt "Red, Red Wine" from Hot August Night.

I have always loved his songs, they are so much fun to sing along with.

I hope he doesn’t suffer. There have been advances.

Neil has always been one of my favorite singers/song writer, and a great entertainer. Never got a chance to see him live in concert, but have many of his Live Concerts on DVD.

He tells a story in every song he writes, and he really seems to enjoy getting his audience involved with him during his performances.

My best to you Neil Diamond, you put a lot of enjoyment in many years and decades of my life. For me you are among the very best and in my eyes will always remain so.

This is so upsetting to me as he is one of my favorite artists. I have seen him in concert 8 times over the years & I was never disappointed. He always had the audience involved in his songs & you left the concert singing "Sweet Caroline".

I just heard this, too!  Very sad.  I am the same way.  I never really was a fan until the last few years.  My husband has always loved his music.  He really is a wonderful singer, writer and performer.  I do wish him the very best!

That's another sad disease anyone can get.  He'll always be special for "Sweet Caroline" to me.  Doesn't Michael J. Fox have this too?  That's so sad.

Sad to hear but sometimes Parkinson’s can be stable and slow to progress. Wishing him the best -  I’m Jewish and growing up my parents played his albums a lot, I would dance, sweet, innocent days... 💝
