We have a relative who is a first responder...he worked some very long days during Harvey last year. He said those they rescued from high water usually had adequate food and water put aside...but it was not packed or sealed and was soaked with water so inedible. Here are the additional things he said people wished they had put in their emergency bags:
Diabetic-friendly foods
Can opener
Plastic forks and spoons
Pedialyte
Pediasure
Gatorade
Ensure/Boost or other protein nutritional drinks
All prescription meds and diabetic suipplies such as insulin and syringes, double-bagged and sealed.
First aid kit, including benedryl cream.
Personal hygiene items
Chlorine bleach (for purifying water if required)
