Need help with transporting food!

We're traveling to my parents' tomorrow for Easter; it's a five hour drive, and the temperature will be in the 50s.

I'm bringing a green salad, and a fruit salad. I have those ThermaCare bowls with lids, but don't know if they really keep the food cold--? Our cooler isn't big enough to hold two of them, so my next thought was to transport the food in Ziploc bags in the cooler. But...does the green salad and fruit salad need refrigeration for the trip? I'll buy the ingredients for the dressing for the fruit salad when I get there, so don't have to worry about that. Any suggestions? Help!
