Need help keeping an active dog busy.

My rescue dog is very active. I need ideas for toys that will keep him busy on a day like today (rainy all day so can't be out too long.)

Suggestions? I'm not sure what his breed is but his activity level is non-stop, like a jack russell terrier! He doesn't look like a jr but sheesh, I wonder if it's in him. I got him a stuffed lamb and it's now on the floor in bits of fabric. Yikes.

Toys I've already gotten that he doesn't pay much attention to: chewy rubber bone, large knotted rope, tennis balls, rubber chewy ball. He loves his kong ball thing but how often can I put peanut butter or treats in that? He loves stuffed toys but destroys them pretty quickly. Help!

Re: Need help keeping an active dog busy.

Thanks everyone for your suggestions. I have 3 dogs, but my little rescue guy is more high energy than the other 2. I have a sheltie and a malamute in addition to Bo, the rescue. When the weather's nice, they all run around out in our yard and tire themselves out. But while the sheltie and malamute love playing outside in the cold weather, Bo does not. Since it's now cold, he goes outside to do his business and then hops up on the window ledge, crying and begging to be allowed back in. I can't put a doggie type coat on him because I know the mal will enjoy tugging it off him and chewing it up!!

I'll search online for the items and ideas you've all given me. I appreciate all the helpful suggestions here! Smile

These dogs need exercise! Either face the fact that you've got some long walks in your future or find a dog park. I have mobility issues so I take my two collies on runs on my scooter. A bicycle would work too. Remember, a tired dog is a good dog.
