Need help from our Jewish friends with translation

I put this on Among Friends, because I hope I can consider all you posters my friends. I bought an interesting stained glass "sign" at an auction. Its about 24" x 14" in stained glass pieces, edged in copper foil The pieces spell out MEGA V. Checking several sources on Google, all I can figure out is that it applies to a specific type of faith. It also refers as coming from the Greek. Can anyone please help?

Not sure why you mention ""jewish friends""? It's Greek and means ""great"" and is used in Greek translations of the Bible.

Re: Need help from our Jewish friends with translation

I'm Jewish, and I've never heard of Mega V.

"Mega" means large or great, and it has Greek origins. I've never heard it used in the Jewish religion and I've been fairly religious my entire life.

Maybe the V is intended to be a roman numeral. As in "The Great One" followed by the number 5. Just trying to sort this out in a way that encompasses a religious aspect, but honestly I have no idea.

OK, I hope I can consider the ladies of Greek origin our friends, too. I'm going with the Great V answer. The V has a line on top and on the bottom. These auctions are often estate situations where there is no survivor to question. A bank has the job of disposing of the assets. There's a lesson here, make out your will or you will have no choice where all your cool stuff ends up.

This sounds like the old cliche' ""Some of my best friends are Jewish"".

Is the stained glass old or contemporary? Sometimes we imagine that stained glass necessarily has a religious connection, when actually it can be used for many types of decor and artistic uses, both in long-ago history and today. I doubt it has any Jewish connection.

Interestingly, when I Googled "Mega V", I found references to a Pokemon video game and to a Mega V natural herbal "Viagra". Maybe the herbal Mega V worked so well that someone built a stained glass cathedral in gratitude and praise?
