Re: Need help for Broadway tickets

Weekday evening might be the easiest but the week between Christmas and New Years all bets are off.I listed the hours for the booth in my post above, you could get there at 3 get your tickets wander around have dinner and see the show.

The days offerings are posted at the booth,

If you download their app you can check out the shows available that day and the waiting times and the discount%.

@Libbylady

At this time of year, matinees and weekends are crazy.  If you are looking to use your TKS gift card before the end of the year, you need to go as early in December as possible.  Tuesday nights are usually the slowest night on Broadway.

Re: Need help for Broadway tickets

   We have been going into the city the week between Christmas & New Years for many years & have never had a problem getting tickets at the discount booth!! The wait has never been more than about 35 minutes & the show selection has always been good!!

   The only issue this year is that parts of the city may be closed off because of the barrier around Trump Tower!! I'm not sure what affect that may have on the area around the Broadway theaters!! But we are going to attempt it & find out!! LOL!!

Re: Need help for Broadway tickets

My DH and I go to TKTS in Times Square often. I do agree w/ the posters it will be very busy during that holiday week . When you arrive at TKTS there will be a big electronic board w/ the show availabilities and discounts for that day . You can take a look at that quick before you get in the line. Once u get thru the line to the cashier person, you have to make quick decisions - it's a very hectic area..that's why it's good to go to the electronic board first to know what you might want to see. DH and I saw Beautiful lately ( Carole King musical) -and it was fantastic . We got tickets for 50% off for the 2pm Wed matinee. Enjoy the city and your play selection!

Re: Need help for Broadway tickets

Thank you all for your responses!  I have looked at the website and just couldn't wrap my head around what to expect.  I really appreciate the "hands-on" tips.... that was my concern.

We are looking at seeing Beautiful, Jersey Boys, or School of Rock, as we have seen most of the others.   Maybe a play instead.

If this works out well, perhaps DH will be willing to go more often!!  Perhaps if I don't go shopping while there.......

We have seen Beautiful and Jersey Boys -- both are great musicals with good plot lines -- it's not wall to wall music w/o dialogue like Evita or Les Miserables.

I can't imagine how that is going to play out over the shopping season which as we know is nuts around that block and Rock center.  Hope it's figured out,

I agree with your choices. Great musicals!
