Need a new electric cooktop - coil or smooth?

Hi Everyone -

Currently I have coil type electric cook top. I need to replace it and was wondering if I should stay with the coil type or get the smooth type cooktop.

I have never used the smooth type and have had no ideas with the coil type but friends/family are telling me I need to "get with the times and get the smooth type" LOL.

Opinions on what you like best/pros & cons.
