Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

I have the LG800 tracfone and just keep it on hand for emergencies.

It is not a smart phone which I did not want.

If you just want a phone, look at the LG800 and the newer model LG840.

Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

Hi sparkle I got my Dad The Big Easy trac phone and he loves it. I can hear him very well when he calls. It was $40 or so at Walmart and came with 240 minutes, when he needs more we buy a card for $20 (at the gift card areas in supermarkets, or you can purchase more from the phone with a CC) and it's 120 minutes but they double them to 240. He can also text. The numbers and fonts are larger for him. HTH

Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

I have used tracfone for the last two or three years. I have the .samsung Galaxy fromQVC and I like it. I use it mainly for emergencies. I have an iPod for music and an iPad to use for everything else. Go to tracfones site to make sure it will work in your area. I travelled to Michigan on vacation and in two towns, I had no signal. No biggie. Hotel had wifi and I face timed folks.

Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

I have owned several of them going back at least 9 years and probably as many different model and brand phones. We have always bought ours from hsn when they have a low price about the time our "12 month expiration date" is getting close. It is cheaper to buy a phone(and they are always an upgraded version) than it is to purchase minutes.

Right now my phone is a Samsung Galaxy Centura smart phone. Can't remember the last time I called anyone on it, so you can see it is not my bedtime and daytime companion as these phones seem to be with many others in the world, including my wife.

For what I paid for this phone it comes out to less than $6 per month and this phone will do it all, text/data and internet if one chooses to do those things. Me? While I am a techno-nut, I ain't into using mobile devices to get my fix. I have more than enough permanent devices in our home with which to satisfy may electronic addiction.

Right now my wife is using Virgin Mobile Plan that costs her $35 per month, and she cannot call from inside of our home with her much more fancy Samsung Galaxy SII model. She often uses my TracFone for these calls or drives a few blocks away to make a call with her phone.

Have yet to have a dropped call and my wife many times when she calls home loses the connection with me. Tracfone for me uses both T-Mobile and AT&T as the service providers and in our area there are none as good, much less better than my TracFone plan.

Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

I've had a prepaid Tracfone cell phone for many years, and it suits me just fine. Can't stand being locked into anything, much less a cellular contract.

My favorite models have been from Samsung and LG, two great brands with quality electronics.

I think you'll enjoy the change, and it will surely save you money and frustration! 8)

Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

I love Tracfone. I am on my second one. The current one is the LG 840g. I want my phone only for an emergency and this fills the bill. It does lots of things, text, email, etc, but being a technophobe, I don't use those. I need to add minutes in November so I will probably just get a new phone that comes with a gazillion minutes. I have 1900 now because I seldom use it, but I want to have it always with me. You can't go wrong. I predict you will also love it.

Re: Need Trac Phone Recommendation

Does anyone know when the next cell phone TSV will be? I've seen at least two this year, so I'm hoping they have another TSV before the holidays. I think I'm going to give it a try this year.

I don't know, but I read on a tech blog that Tracfone will soon have the newest LG smartphone. I've been trying to hold out for it. I love LG phones.

I bought 2 of the Tracfone TSV and haven't had any problems...been with Tracfone for several years. I buy new ones just for the minutes since it's cheaper than buying the actual minutes sometimes.

You are right about that. I do the same thing.
