My laptop is 6 months old and it's a Dell. I was given Kaspersky anti-virus free for 6 mos. I have been shopping around for anti-virus software and I have been told that the software is not capatible with Internet Edge, my browser. If that is so than I currently do not have any security. Over a month ago someone hacked into my computer. Webroot and Norton have told me that I need Chrome or Firefox for their antivirus to protect me. I am not that computer savvy so I am askiing any of you what is going on? Do I need to download Chrome and then get a antivirus software? I have 2 refunds coming my way because I had problems with the downloading and then no one is available to help me. Can anyone help me out? ![]()

Is this a Windows 10 computer? If so, it has it's own build-in a/v. That will work just fine and nothing to buy.
Why it came with another a/v, if it is Win10, is beyond me. You can't run two antivirus programs.

@chickenbutt, There is no built in anti-virus. When I purchased I was given anti-virus software free for 6 months and now I need to renew.

I haven't fully used my windows 10 yet. That said, I personally would use chrome as my browser. I like that it easily allows me to delete my cookies etc. and allows me go into cognito mode. My pro tech support suggested webroot for my business systems, if that helps. They haven't steered me wrong in 16 years so I trust their advice.
Seems easier to change browsers unless you love edge.

I personally would go to the Kaspersky forums and present your problem to them, the supposed incompatibility with Internet Edge, which frankly sounds unlikely. Kaspersky is solid, and I've tried them all--McAfee, Norton, Dr. Solomon back in the day, Trend Micro, etc., etc. Kaspersky is far more reliable, IMO, than the competition. I use the Internet Security suite, though, not a standalone anti-virus product, and would recommend going with the suite.
