Re: Need Help Purchasing My First I-Pad

Thank ya'll so much. I didn't know about the EXTENDED APPLE CARE (2 Yrs for $99) - that is really good. Last evening, we picked up our Apple I-Pad at Best Buy. We bought Technical Support from their GEEK Squad for $99 for 1 year. They, in turn, set it all up for us & gave us a few lessons to get us started which was so wonderful; otherwise, I have my doubts that I would have been able to do that. We both have a lot to learn since neither of us have I-Phones, Smart Phones, or any of those things. We still have the old simple cell phones which I don't imagine will be around much longer. So, glad we have the tech support now & I will also check out the I-Pad Tips & Tricks in the Electronics Forum. Every little thing will be helpful since we have no one to teach us. I am excited that we have taken a step in getting out of the dark ages and, hopefully, when contract is up with cell phones next year, we can advance to Smart Phones. I just wanted to let ya'll know that we DID IT (seems like a big thing to us but I'm sure most are laughing) & to thank ya'll again for all your help. I love the way people step in to help on these boards. HUGS!

Re: Need Help Purchasing My First I-Pad

believe me no one is laughing. When. I got my new Apple IPAD Air a a a birthday gift from my DH. I was replacing a original (1st generation) IPAD. I took my new IPAD, my old one and my IPHONE to the Apple store slid it all across the counter to the tech person and said ,"Set me up Buttercup". 20 minutes later. I walked out with everything set up. I purchased the 2 year Apple Care for $99.00 and have to call with questions a couple of times. They are so nice at Apple Care.

Sounds like I need to get an I-Pad with both WI-FI & 4G but I am still stupid. If I get both, do I have to go ahead & hook up with my cell carrier even though I will be using the WI-FI mostly but I'm thinking I should have it just in case there is no WI-FI available. Like one person said she was in an area with no Wi-Fi & she just activated her cell for 30 days. I know I'm not explaining myself very well but, bottom line is I don't want to pay a monthly charge every month for the internet when I would probably only be using it in an emergency situation.

When I got my Ipad with cellular capabilities(4G), I had them hook it up on the tablet, then turn it off. Now if I need it at some point, I will turn it on (as it is already set up). Good luck.
