Need Help Printing Recipes, etc. on Apple

Someone on the board helped me soooo much once. They advised me to highlight the recipe, then slide it over to Text Edit and print. That worked wonderfully.

However, now when I try to do that the Text Edit screen disappears as soon as I slide something to it. Shows up later on the blank screen.

So what can I do to stop Text Edit from disappearing. Or how else can I print out a recipe from this board for example? Still confused by the change from a PC.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
