The others in the group agree with me. We are all over 70 years old. We have limited our activities to minimize the risks of catching the virus.  Our neighbor, who is traveling, is attempting to live normal during a pandemic. I actually fear being around her because of her lack of precautions.

You've answered your own question. She is looking out for herself and you and your friends need to do the same.

Re: Need Feedback on Virus Precautions

@Bannafanna  I agree with you that your neighbor should isolate when she returns.  First, I would talk to her and ask what she plans to do once she returns home.  You can let her know that you will not feel comfortable around her and will not see her for several weeks afterward.  I would also talk to the other neighbors and get their opinions.  A united front where everyone tells her the same thing, possibly during your daily exercise together, will convince her to put all of your first.  Let her know that you do not believe that she would purposely do anyone any harm, but you need to do everything that you can to stay safe, which means staying away from her when she returns.

I live in a small neighborhood. We have a group of four neighbors who walk and swim for daily exercise. We practice the 6 foot rule walking and swimming. One of our group is flying out to the mountains for a week of new sights. It's my feeling that when she returns, she needs to quarantine for 10 to 14 days. She, the traveler, disagrees. She feels like she can return home and step back in to the exercise group. Am I being too ridged by not wanting to be exposed to her after air flight and trip?

You do not know who she will be in contact with.   They could be asymptomatic and give the virus to your neighbor.  And then spread the virus to you and others..

Refer to CDC guidelines for travel.

@EatWell  Just to let you know, I won't be reading any of your posts as long as that bug is scrolling on the screen. It gives me the willies and I have to scroll down immediately till it's off my screen. You might be saying something interesting, but I'll never know.

You should do what you feel safest. Just for my situation, I would feel comfortable walking outside with her if we were both wearing masks.

Re: Need Feedback on Virus Precautions

Some states, such as mine, REQUIRE a 14 day guarantine of any incoming person.  You might check the requirements in yours.

A little peer pressure from the group might convince the traveler that she needs to stay home.  The "mountain" states in the West were slow to have virus cases but they caught up fast.  Colorado has had a large number of deaths.

The way your friend is thinking is exactly why, and how, the virus continues to spread.

You might not change her viewpoint, but you can control your contact with her.

She may plan to join the group, but I hope the group doesn't join her.

If she doesn't wish to quarantine, then don't participate, in the group, for a couple of weeks.

You need to do, what you feel is best for you.

Mine and all other suggestions and opinions, are just that! Me personally, I don't care what others think and or do(my doctors excluded), when it comes to decisions about living my life.

Whatever you think and feel is right for you? You have your answer, if the others of the group disagree?
