High fences make good neighbors from bad. Just put uip a high, solid fence. as for the barking dog - that seems to be epidemic in this country - people who own dogs but are either too stupid or too lazy to train them.We probably have 6 neighbors in our immediate vicinity whose dogs bark incessantly. We have an HOA - they tell us there is no rule in our covenants against incessantly barking dogs, or walking dogs on other people's property to toilet them. The board says that most residents don't want rules against dog behavior because almost everyone has a dog.

I didn't see the original post as you removed it..but if there are negative replies IGNORE..Unless somebody is living there with you many will not understand the frustration.
In a perfect world and all..etc..but since it isn't ..you have every right to be upset and vent about it..You are also right..a few bucks here..and there but over time they add up and why should you have the expense time after time of cleaning/fixing things that they do?
We have Code Enforcement for a reason..USE THEM.. Who wants to live next to piles of garbage that brings in all kinds of critters.. Some people do not have the respect for their proberty that you do yours.. I too had a neighbor one house over ...that didn't pay his garbage bill so the cans would not be picked up/emptied so he just piled it all out behind his house..YUCK..the smell was disgusting.. We live in a cul-de-sac so the homes were not far apart.. We all the backyards are just pretty much one extension of each other..putting a fence up would not eliminate the smell..Finally he was turned in and had to remove it..
Then the house between us was empty..he took an extension cord and hooked it up to the electric box to the house to steal the electric..Upon inspection by the owners of the house..sure enough there was a cord rolled up by the side of the house. He denied it..but his former girlfriend turned him in..ahh what to they say about being scorned lol.
I digress..I could go on and on about this guy...but my point being unless somebody lived in your house and encountered your problems they will not understand..It is easier to say ignore them..or it is only a couple dollars to replace/fix..Not the point..you shouldn't have to ignore/fix etc.
Please keep us updated..Many totally understand where you are coming from..Keep your chin up!!

You are so right about some of today's dog owners. I love dogs and grew up around dogs. In the city we have leash laws, but they may as as well not have them. All too often I see dogs on leads longer than 6feet. That is too much of a lead for the walker to be in full control of their pet. It's one thing to lengthen the lead if the dog when is doing it's business, but for general walking dogs should be as close to the owner as possible. It only takes a second for something to startle a dog into a reaction which may not be normal for that dog (such as another approaching dog, small child running up on one etc.). Don't get me started about those who never heard of pooper scooping.

They are good about the poop scooping here but they bring their dogs to others yards to pee than we get the brown spots and their own yard is pristine. During the season it is horrible here with the dog walking in other people's yards. And what really gets me is - we have a dog walk area!!!!! But they are too lazy to walk that far as they would add about 1/4 mi to their walks. Only a very few of our neighbors use that dog walk area despite that it is suggested at EVERY HOA meeting. We need a rule that says they MUST use it, but the dog owners outnumber the non dog owners.
And then there is the barking, and the dogs that chase after you if you walk past their house etc. I love dogs but I have come to really HATE most dog owners. Oh and those leashes that go way out ...... OY. Fortunately, those are illegal in Sarasota County so they are told when they move here that they have to get a real leash, so most, but not all, follow that rule.

It would seem to me that with so many dog owners and walkers, NO ONE would have a "pristine" lawn. Equality in pooping and peeing and all.

In the past, the youth was so against noise pollutuion. WHERE ARE THEY NOW???? tHEY MOUTHED OFF IN THE 1960'S AND 70'S so where are they now???
Loud noises, and any obnoxious noise is wrong and an imposition on others. Hefty fines would help a lot of cities and towns in generating revenue to pay for many things that are needed.

Hi @JustJazzmom
Having been at many protests, I can say there was no youth movement "mouthing off" about noise pollution.
But there were plenty of older home owners upset with all the noise. As a consequence, there are noise abatement walls in many areas around here, especially in between homes and freeways.
There were also changes made in airport flight patterns.
I don't understand why so many people try to blame things on "the youth." Noise pollution was attacked by middle aged people and older, the home owners of the time. Too many people here are obsessed with blaming youth for the ills of the world.

It is against the law in Sarasota County to walk your dog on anyone else's property that is marked no dog walking allowed. However, our HOA won't allow us to post that sign so we had to go to the County and get a writ to force the HOA to allow us to post a sign to keep the dog walkers off our front lawn. The county was cooperative and now there are several homes with signs saying no dog walking on the property in our plan. However, the dog owners will stand there telling me how cute our sign is while their dog is , in fact, peeing on my lawn. You just can't fix stupid.
My DH always makes a point out of taking their picture and their dog's and that seems to intimidate them, they think the police are going to show up at their door with the picture. The picture taking has worked much better than the sign.

Did you say anything?
I sure would have. There's a woman in our neighborhood who walks her dog by our house every so often. Apparently he appreciates our yard, we are his choice of area to defecate.
If I could only catch her in the act, I would let her know in no uncertain terms that it's illegal, not to mention rude.
