My uncle passed a few weeks ago in Minnesota. We were close, as I recently moved here from there. We do not think he left a will. He was not married and had no children. I have the keys to his home. I'm going there and don't have any idea where to start. We want to try to avoid legal fees if possible. I guess I just dig around in his home and look for important papers. I do have his certified death certificates. I think someone has to be named an executor. Does that cost money, or is it a form that you just fill out? Has anyone been in this situation before? Thanks for any advice!
