Re: Nationwide IT Outage

I called my bank's 800 number this morning and couldn't get through. I went to the ATM and was still able to withdraw cash, thankfully!

@teganslaw - I always have cash with me and some people (on a huge local Facebook group I'm in) are aghast that anyone would carry cash anymore. Ahhhhh....

Why is it, when I have a 50/50 guess at something, I'm always 100% wrong?

A single point of failure took down the entire world's system and it was on the shoulders of one software company, CrowdStrike. One company??!! How can that be and how is that safe?

It wasn't Microsoft's error. It was CrowdStrike, a cybersecurity company's error.

@ahoymate, going inside to the pharmacy is definitely a big deal for people with physical limitations. Please don't assume everyone can just park their auto and run into the pharmacy if the drive-thru isn't available.

Excellent opportunity for bad actors to exploit vulnerabilities until the situation is fixed.

I checked all my banking and financial accounts online just to make sure (for now.)

I was able to use the ATM successfully.

I'm often reminding people that using cash is the only way for keeping ourselves private.

No way to track folks ......... unless they follow us home.

Which reminds me and all of us to take a few looks in our rear view mirrors when driving home.....

'More or less', 'Right or wrong', 'In general', and 'Just thinking out loud ' (as usual).

In my neck of the woods, it has always been for generations you should always have "house money" stashed.
