National Wear Red Day is this Friday, Feb. 7th....

Heart disease is the No. 1 killer of women in the United States, claiming more lives than all forms of cancer combined. It's a silent killer. Please educate yourself and the women in your life that you love. Wear red this Friday, Feb. 7th in support of Heart health and to raise awareness. Get your Red Dress pin and wear it proudly all year long, and most importantly, talk to your doctor about your heart health. Women give so much of themselves to everyone in their lives. Your heart holds lots of love, it's important to take care of it. {#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

{#emotions_dlg.thumbup1} I got involved with this a couple years ago when I realized some of my lifestyle choices were putting me at risk. It isn't just about a fashion show where celebrity women walk the runway in gorgeous red dresses, there is a cause and purpose. I got my Red Dress pin and wear it, and when anyone asks me about it I tell them what it is for. Some people just don't know, which is probably why it's the No. 1 killer... knowledge is power.

Nope will not be partaking.

My DD has a heart condition and so we live with this everyday, do not need to wear something as a reminder.

That is your personal choice, although your opinion confuses me. I would think since your DD has a heart condition, all the more reason you would want to help raise awareness to help other women. To each their own. I wish your daughter health and happiness. Be well.

I had a heart attack a few years ago. You bet I'll be wearing red this Friday.

I just got my heart checked I go every year sooner if there is an issue did my stress test, ultra sound echocardiogram. Past with flying colors. I am good. As I said my DD has an issue wearing red does not change it. We deal with it eveyday but if you feel better wearing red one day a year more power to you.

lulu, I am glad you are here, and thanks for wearing red. If the awareness saves even one life, it's worth it. You are a living testament. Smile

Caravaggio, I am so glad you got yourself checked and all is good. Of course, wearing a Red Dress, or anything red does not heal or change your dear daughter's condition right now, but what it does do is raise awareness to other women. Women that can donate money to help research, and therefore cures that can help your daughter. Women that might be suffering the same condition but have no idea they should get themselves tested like you did. You have personal experience with this issue, all the more reason your voice should be heard. This is by no means meant to be an insult to you, so please do not take it that way.... but I find ignorance in complacency.
