Re: National Do Not Call Registry

Can't do anything about robocalls or scammers who don't give a whit about any laws. They're mostly calling from outside the U.S. anyway & do not fear prosecution even if somebody could catch them.

I rely on my caller ID to determine which calls I will answer. Everything else gets ignored. Yes, I know it's annoying, but that's the only way I could find to deal with it, short of not having a telephone at all.

I just block nuisance numbers on my phone. Some vacation people keep calling, so I blocked their number.

Please tell me how to block the numbers. I just have my cell and my husbands, no landline.

I went to settings, couldn't find anything to block.

Gloriajean, what kind of phone do you have?

Sprint. Guess I have to go to the Sprint store. What do you have?

Being I have a cell phone and not land line, I don't get caller Id's but a state, like Texas, Florida, California.

I didn't know that it's for life. I thought I read on here some time ago that you should re-register every year! Ok - I agree - no answering - but they sure get annoying especially when I have to go from one room to another to get the phone, and here's it's them when I'm expecting an important call.

Thanks everyone - looks to me like we just have to put up with them forever and ever!

When it first started, the registration was good for FIVE YEARS. Then you would have to re-register each 5yrs. But, during that initial 5yr period, they changed it to lifetime. So, you just had to do it again to get on the lifetime deal.

But everything that dooBdoo and Shoekitty said is true. There are limits and loopholes. This, of course, is profoundly unfortunate because it really doesn't help much at all. I will report the ones I get but even some of them have a way around it.

One that I had reported told them that I had done business with one of their companies. I got an email to that effect, with the names of the companies listed. I had never heard of ANY of them. So - they just lie and get away with it. But, then, that's the nature of this kind of telemarketing anyway.

Since I don't text anyway, I had to block all texting on my phone because I was getting text spam too.

It should be a law that NOBODY has the right to use any of your phone numbers without your permission. PERIOD. We pay for these services and we also pay for private and unlisted. That should be enough.

Don't even get me started about the door-to-door solicitors! {#emotions_dlg.sneaky}

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

chickenbutt, we put "no solicitation" signs on both sides of our mailbox- as several of our neighbors have too and yesterday we put a metal No Solicitation sign next to the ADT security sign in the front yard. Got ours from Amazon..

If you google how to block phone #s on Sprint ""model#"" it will give you step by step directions.

It's time to write our Congressional reps and ask that laws be passed that the telecommunications services companies we use allow us to block for starters 25 numbers not the original 10 they allow us (Verizon allows 10 numbers to block).

DNC List is only as good as the merchants who abide by it. Most who disregard it are not scrupulous and honest.

This is very good advice. Thanks!

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

Just got another robo call from folks who pretend to be affiliated with our gas and electric company regarding energy savings, etc............I always press #2 to be removed, but they keep calling. Can you imagine who they hire to send to our homes to access the energy/heating/whatever! OMGosh.......

Re: National Do Not Call Registry

I have signs up, but they don't seem to know what it means...........that's why I do not answer my door, ever. One time it was one of my sisters, and saw her almost get into her car, so I ran out and retrieved her!
