A couple of the neighbors look puzzled when I tell them that I don't answer my landline/door. But they are seniors who we observe to have all kinds of estimates for solar, whatever, whatever from phone solicitors. All kinds of trucks out front. I don't think that they believe that those people could be illegitimate or maybe highly over-priced for the work they do. And, true, the estimates were extremely high priced, from what they've said.

Typed up a sign and plastered it to the storm door - that one was more specific. Didn't work. Added another sheet of paper that was EVEN more specific. Hasn't worked. Put up 'private property, no trespassing' signs. That doesn't work either.
One of the signs I made also says 'DO NOT LEAVE ANYTHING ON THIS PROPERTY' and they still leave their qrap on my door or porch or whatever. Clearly, I have a 'thing' about this but it just doesn't matter to these people. It doesn't matter that this is my property, on which I pay the taxes and mortgage. That should give them no rights. I tried to get the husband to build a 12' fence with a moat and alligators but, alas, that is not to happen either.
chickenbutt, so far so good on the mailbox- they stick on either side- says No solicitation.. according to the USPS it's lillegal to put anything on, around or in your mailbox but they continue all around us- we have seen them drive by our box with the signs attached..
Now hoping the bigger sign in the yard works on Saturdays, if you get my drift. Generally people hate climbing our two flights of steps up to the porch but some do.. I'm like you, I don't anyone that has NO business on our property on our property.. I had our street light placed on OUR property so no one could complain or attach those stupid signs..

Hey, chickenbutt: I totally understand........same here. Nothing has worked. I might try a 'vicious dogs' sign.

Makes me laugh when we get those ADT - type of flyers.....The logo is there, very large,......but, reading the fine print, it's NOT ADT at all..........some company from another state.

We do have 'beware of dog' on both side fences. Little do they know that it's a golden retriever who isn't over on either side anyway.
Suzie - my mailbox is just a wooden box that some previous owners put up on the siding, right next to the door. So, I don't know if it is illegal on that one, since it's not even marked as such, but so far no complaints by the mail folks. The sign looks very nice there, though, and is extremely obvious. Too bad those for whom it is meant choose to ignore it.
They better hope I don't go off the rails one day and they are fortunate that I don't have a firearm - when/if that does happen. ha!

PatsyCline (Love her voice, BTW) ...... Yes, when I was in the kitchen, I pressed #2 to be removed off the list. And, I recall previously doing that maybe a couple of times. That was before I read someone's post about not pressing any numbers, even the ones to 'remove' us off their list. I learned something today!

OMG you mean next to your front door they do this? Our mailbox is down at the street so we were getting drive bye flyers.. Dang I'd have a hissy if I had a mailbox next to my door and they did this.. As long as your mail is placed in your mailbox, regardless of type, it's a mailbox..

In the last 4 hours I've had 3 anonymous calls I chose to answer. The were all from Child Fund which use to be Christian Children's Fund.

Yup. If you look at the doorbell, then move your eyeballs about 6" straight to the right of that you'll see the 'no soliciting' sign that is over the outside of the mailbox. It would be virtually impossible, assuming it is a sighted person, to NOT see the 'no soliciting' sign when reaching to ring the bell or bang on the door.
Then, the additional ones I added plus the 'private property...no trespassing' signs are also very clearly present. Pretty ballzy, these people. Then, if you finally answer the door after they've been laying on the doorbell or banging on the storm door, and reinforce what the signs say you get - 'Oh, I'm not selling anything but - (and they start their spiel)'.
I cannot imagine being so devoid of manners and just the basic principles of being a part of a civilized society that, even though it is clearly stated that you want to be left alone (and it also says DO NOT RING DOORBELL OR KNOCK ON DOOR) that they refuse your wishes on your own freaking property. Like I said - I hope I never go completely off the rails because somebody will be sorry.

chickenbutt, now that's ballzie!! Oh I'm like you, I'd be civil as long as I could take it and then start getting ugly. I can't believe they do that and the signs are right in front of their stupid faces!
