I thought Anne Wilson did a great job, too -- until the end when she tried to change it up and hit that high note that was a little too high for her. However, I, too, do think she still has it -- did a great job otherwise, in my opinion.

See, you caught it too. Smile

Yes, I did. I hated it for her. But, as we both said -- she did a great job otherwise!{#emotions_dlg.thumbup}

ITA with Mrs Lorraine. Also, if Ann was striving for vocal perfection, she could have pre-recorded a perfect version and lip synced as so many artists do these days. Instead, she opted to perform it live and let her heart (sorry I couldn't resist) felt feelings come through in her performance. Smiley Happy

OMG, I love Renee Fleming! Thanks for the heads up on this. I would probably have missed it.

thanks for the anne link. i'm more of a purist on singing the anthem. i don't like it all "garbaged" up. one i still like is from Madison Rising, it's on you-tube.

Opera at the Super Bowl? Yeah, that's not pretentious at all.

Normally I'd agree with you but just this once, since it was "our own" gal...I can live with it.
